There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Riding in the rain

Good gear: Waterproofed textiles or those pull over rubber rain suits (ala Frogg Toggs) work well.

Slow down a bit. Driving through standing water at over 50 mph is asking for your :spyder2: to hydroplane. Not a fun experience. Been there and done that.

When all else fails, time to pull off the road and wait the deluge out.

a little off the subject.. but pertaining to rain... pack a few pairs of exam rubber gloves... they KEEP YOUR HANDS DRY... and they are cheap...

Thanks for all the good info Folks. I don't want rain to hold up my riding. Beautiful day here in the Low Country. Threw Mama on the back and hit the rode for a bit. She loves it more then I do I think. I sure do get a lot of xtra hugs when we are on the Spyder!,,,

Rain is easy. its the hail that hurts!!

Driving thru the Smokey Mountains yesterday (4 wheels) it was raining pretty heavy. Saw a lot of bikers heading west. I have only been in the rain one time on my Rt and didn't expect it. Had to pull off the road. What is the trick to riding in the rain?
When we were driving home from the lake it started to rain lightly. We kept on driving @100km.Then the rain turned into quarter sized hail! I was laughing at myself and my husband. We watched the hail bounce off of our helmets! At that point we pulled over to the side of the highway.Just another quality experience on our spyders.

 Hail is NOT fun...
I don't think that it could do any damage to the plastic bodywork on a Spyder, but it sure can sting! :yikes:

Be Careful SubDriver my war department took mine in for an oil change and bought her own !

I recently purchased a bottle of Lucas Slick Mist Speed Wax . . . safe for your windshield and your visor, and works very similarly to Rain-X, causing the rain to bead up and run off. . . does a great job of improving visibility. I rode in a lot of rain at Spyder Quest, and got rained on a couple times in Ohio, recently . . . my RT does very well in the rain.

Pinlock

Ive used most of the anti fog, anti rain solutions and the very best solution is a Pinlock visor for your helmet. It simply works. My helmet never fogs now.

All good comments. We have 1 piece rainsuits. That is the only way to go. We bought them 2 sizes larger than needed so that we can layer underneath. Other than that, everything else has been covered.

the "secret"

The secret ? DON'T DO IT. In only MY experience, and the storms I have encountered, my 2014 RTS is a pig in the slop. I think part of it is a slightly over-boosted power steering, and PLENTY of weight, and A healthy sail profile to catch wind, and TIRES that people can't seem to say enough bad about. Then I factor in my old geezer reaction times, reduced visibility, the speed of competing cages, and all of it together ....I wait out the storm. I also have had a lot of neat times seeking shelter. Stay safe, just allow a little time if the weather is dicey. Ron

Stinging Precipitation

So can sleet, it stings like h:cus: ... like a bunch of little needles! I know this because of a rally we went to years ago ... ran into sleet during a T-storm while travelling through Oklahoma ... in JULY! nojoke This was during my two wheel days (BMW K75LT, custom built) -- we suited up and rode on, though a little slower.

Best regards .... Ann

PinLock visor is the answer. I have tried every thing made to reduce the fog and then I discovered PinLock ...

Was going to ride today to dealership about 60 miles one way to repair switch on frunk. With a steady rain and temp @ 50 degrees, thought better of it, rescheduled for next Saturday. Took my wife shopping instead. Should have taken the bike in....it was covered under warranty...her shopping wasn't..:roflblack:
