Ride-on balancing issues

I have a friend who bought new front tires from dealer. Could not balance them. Come to find out the tires were coming apart inside. Dealer replaced them with another set of front tires and that solved the problem.

New front tires

I just went through this also. Had front tires replaced, on way home started having vibrations at 50 mph. Put another 100 miles on just for testing and vibrations at 50 stayed. Took it back to dealer, found out that i had gotten the tech that was his last day and he did not balance the tires at all.
They balanced the tires for me and now it rides just like new.
First think I would do is have them balanced again, cheapest option to start with.

Good luck.

Thanks for all of the great feedback. I believe that is the best idea to remove the ride on and rebalance all the tires and have a laser alignment done. I'll update the results end of week.

I would definitely check for cord separation and proper bead seat before I went to all that trouble. If the tires are bad you're wasting your time with anything short of replacement. Just one bad front tire will do what you are describing.

I agree with Ron on checking for a bad tire. I have run Ride on for years in different bikes and never had the issues you have reported here, nor have I ever heard of someone having that issue. If your issue was solely alignment driven I think it would be manifesting itself in other ways than what you are describing. But what we have heard on here from at least a few people is a bad tire causing those type of symptoms.

I've run into plenty of bad Stock tires they are crap and hard to balance once they're warped. Dealers don't seem to know enough to line up the stem with the dot.
I've used ride-on to balance my tires for a tens of thousands of miles and had great luck with it... but you're not going to fix bad tires. They are 2-ply and often are shipped all scrunched up to the dealers. For your own safety I'd get new tires.

Agreed, I'll have my first service , 3K, at dealer this week and will report the fix.

Here is the outcome of the shimmy and how it was resolved. Many on the forum suggested a tire issue and you all were right on. One of the fronts had a high spot and BRP warrantied both fronts. It is great to have a dealer that listens and works with you to resolve these issues. They are also proponents of Ride-On and suggest that I install it back into the fronts after a few thousand miles because as the tires wear they will go out of balance. Kudos also to Harry and George at Ride-On who also helped me resolve the issue with suggestions for what to look for. I was also told that BRP is the only manufacturer that will warranty their tires and batteries. I'm happy to ride on a bike that no longer shimmies above 60 MPH;)

That is very good news! It's always a great feeling to be on the good side of an issue. May you have many trouble free, smile filled miles ahead!
