There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RH light override switch

I'm sure I've asked a question about this switch before but here goes anyway.

The right hand light override toggle switch is apparently for lighting up the storage compartment when the engine isn't running. So then, why do the lower lights light up when you press this switch rather than the upper lights which would of course be better? Assuming of course BRP wired the correct lights up!

Have you tried putting the HI/LOW switch on HI before using the override switch?

Hi jetskier,
The reason for this confusion is apparently due to the Canada/USA
market only having the upper lighting arrangement for both main and dipped beams. Im told that to comply with other lighting rules( UK included) the upper and lower positions were both used up. WE cannot fit the fog lights that use the lower positions as in other countries. I know this all doesnt make sense but we are stuck with it !!!

The European version has different lights completely don't they? We also only have one filament and a shutter not a dual filament bulb correct?

I can only confirm how mine opperate as there doesn't seem to be any sort of uniformity ( probably wrong on that )
Daytime running lights use the lower two lights with single filament. These can not be turned off once the engine is running. The dip and main light switch cuts the lower lights off and puts on the upper two lights for night driving, again single filament bulb. The right bar switch lights the top bulbs for looking in the trunk ( stupid idea )
Hows that ?

Are you sure about that buddy? Like you my bottom lights operate all the time when the engine is running (night or day). The upper two lights are full beams like on a car so should only be used on very dark roads when no other cars are around. However, they cause awful haloing in mist so can be dangerous in these weather conditions. Also, you say the right hand switch operates the top lights, but on mine they operate the lower lights. Can you check yours again?

I also find that the lower normal beams are confusing oncoming cars and I get flashed quite a bit. I think they assume it's a car with it's high beam on but just further away because the lamps are closer together!

Maybe you need to adjust the headlight aim or raise the rear shock spring tension to stop the rear end from settling so much when you're riding. :dontknow:

Hi jetskier,
Yep mine are like I said.
Dead right about the halo effect from main beam. I also keep getting flashed from oncomers. Have tried to adjust them but no better.
Also have you noticed that during daylight when you come up behind someone they slow down or pull over a bit.
My riding buddies complain to me that it looks as if the old bill are behind flashing because of the blue tint of the lights and the movement from the suspension. Causes quite a laugh at times

Really? So you're right switch with the engine off lights up your top lights? If so that makes sense as the light would shine into the storage compartment. As my right hand switch lights the lower lights it does nothing to light the storage! Sounds like a wiring issue at factory for me.

Haven't noticed the flashing blue lights issue yet but will post when I do, if I can stop laughing that is!

Hi jetskier

What I did forget to say was that a number of people have reported that the colour of our wiring is not identical to everyones Spyder.
I dont have a wiring diagram to check this out so will have to err on the cautious side.
Perhaps it was someones idea to try to keep us all alert by varying the wiring a little.!!!!!!

Lots of people have noticed the appearance that the lights flash. It is caused by the Spyder's projector style lights. These have a very narrow viewing angle, so they can "appear and disappear" to on-coming drivers. Proper adjustment can help this.

As far as getting flashed by on-coming traffic because the lights are too high, it is very common too, at least in the US. Most people have had to adjust the Spyder lights downward substantially from the factory setting. Best checked with your normal load or passenger, and with you on the Spyder. They rise when loaded. Your lower beams may make it more difficult to adjust to prevent this. With our higher beam position, and the shutters that are in place at the low-beam setting, it is easier for us to adjust to prevent the lights from shining too high.

Flip your light switch on the left to your brights and then hit the right hand switch. Mine will switch both the low beams and the high beams depending on what I have the left light switch set on.

Also for the cars flashing their headlights at you try adjusting your lights, I followed the directions in the owners manual and mine were way off from where they were supposed to be set at.

Thanks for all the comments people. Does anyone know where the adjustment screws are for the bottom light lenses and how to get to them?

Yeah thanks, worked it out last night that I also need to use the left hand switch at the same time! It would be great to have the right hand switch act as a full beam blipper when the engine is running rather than do nothing at all!

Did you set them to replicate what the manual suggests, or did you just adjust down until you reached your own personal preference?

I used the process outlined in the manual. Set the Spyder back far enough and measured on my garage door. I adjusted the focus of my beams down a good 12"s to get them where the manual states they should be. Haven't had a single car flash me since. (Haven't had a single woman flash me in quite awhile either.):yikes:

I set them by the book and they were even then, but still too high, especially with a rider. From there on I just kept adjusting them evenly until they seemed right.
