• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RH footplate removal

Has any of the ST limited owners out there removed the RH footplate ? Are the RT footplates the same ?

The reason that I'm asking is because I have just received the instructions for the Eazy Rizer Big Blue spyder lift, they are now in stock in Australia and I made an enquiry about purchasing one.
On reading the instructions it looks like you can't get the lift in the correct position if you have the footplates fitted, hence the need to remove the RH side one, I've had a quick look and it doesn't look like a job you want to be doing every time you want to lift the spyder.
Is there some kind of safety feature to with the foot brake built into it as it is mounted completely differently to the LH side ?
I don't want to remove it and fit a foot peg as I like my feet firmly planted on the footplates, I find it makes the ride comfortable for me.

Also does anyone know if the chassis on the 2013 ST differs from other models ?

This will be a major investment so I want to get it right.

The right hand side is a drop away. That means if you really have to lay on the brakes hard in an emergency situation it will drop out of the way and give you "extra" pedal to stomp on. Try it! You do not have to have it running, just go and give the brake pedal a stomp and the foot boards will drop down.

There you go...!!

just kick the :cus: out of it....:roflblack: Good to know and test it so it doesn't catch you by surprize and you think you broke it. :yikes:

Tested

I've given it a test and it folds down easily,
This doesn't solve the problem with the Big Blue spyder lift tho. It would have to be removed completely to get the lift in the right location, the lift has been designed to work with Spyders with foot pegs and not foot plates.
Also I have some doubt about the chassis hole location that they recommend to secure the Spyder to the lift. Again I don't think that this has been thought about for all models either, but I may be wrong on this point.
I'm hoping to get an answer from Lamont and have also contacted the distributor to see if he can get information from the UK manufacturer.

I don't want to go and shell out $1000 + and find it doesn't work on my Spyder, if the worst comes to the worst I could always order a 2014 RT-S. ;)

Development model

I have just found out that the Eazi Rizer Big Blue lift for the Can Am Spyder was designed and tested using a 2012 RT.

Is the 2012 RT chassis the same as all other Can Am Spyders ? in particular a 2013 ST

lift table

maybe you should try one like this.

Job cracked

Well finally got round to having a look myself at removing the RH footplate, it turned out to be easy than anticipated.

From under the footplate you can feel the rubber grommets that locate the rubber mat in place, simply push these up and the rubber mat will come away.

Next remove the 4 x T30 torx bolts that hold the metal plate to the support arm.

Lift the metal plate up slightly and slide out towards you.

You now have room to position the Big Blue spyder lift correctly.
