• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Resistors for turn signals

I'm getting ready to replace the reflectors on the saddle bags and front fenders with the running/turn signal combo lights. Does anyone know if I will need to add resistors so that they blink properly? I already put LED strips on the inside of my mirrors (as turn signals) and I had to add resistors to them. Can you have too many resistors?

I have a 2014 RT

I did not have to add resistors to any of mine
If the turn signals flash to fast there is a procedure on how to recalibrate them
don't remember exactly how to do it anymore but I know it was simple [something to do with holding the emergence flasher button]
I'm sure someone will post how to do it

If I remember correctly you leave the key off and hold the flasher button for 60 seconds then turn the key on. It also helps if you stand on one foot while doing this. :roflblack:

Really..!!!

Do you have to hop...??:roflblack::roflblack: I think that if you have a regular bulb in the circuit you dont need resistors...

2014 and up have the calibration. 2010-2013 do not.

I was able to add a led strip to my mirror and the front fender running/turn without any resistors. This is on my 2011 RTS.
When I added the saddle bag running/turn I then got a fast flash so I left the saddle bags as riding only.

No you cannot have too many resistors. It's all about the cluster seeing the correct load.

Since you have a 2014 I would remove the resistors and do the calibration routine. Adding a resistor to a light does dim it a little.

Update

Thanks! I'll let you know what happens.

The installation went smoothly and I didn't have any fast blinking after all. The additional brake light and the saddle bag lights are so bright! I know everyone won't have a problem seeing me. Now I just have to buy the lights to replace the front reflectors on the fenders.
