My reserve when the gas pump icon comes on is1.5 to 2 gallons depending on if I am going up hill or not. We do not have any serious hills around here. Scotty would agree if you figure on the average mileage reported by most 125 miles is a good fill timep

I would be careful how far you go. The mileage on my RT depends on how had I get on it. It very between 124 to 140 miles.

don't multiple that 1.5 gallons times the number of miles you get per gallon and figure you can go that far. you never get all the fuel out of a spyder tank whether it's an rt or rs!:thumbup:

Your theory falls a part when you realize the Spyders tank is 6 gal, Not 6.6 gal....

my tops was 180 miles and 5.8 gallons. I usually fill right around 125-150 depending on where I am at the time.

There are not 2.1 gallons left in the tank. Although the tank capacity is listed as 6.6 gallons, part of that is necessary head space for venting and expansion. The usable capacity is only 6.0 gallons. When the light comes on, there is usually 1.4 to 1.5 gallons left. A fill just when the light comes on will only take about 4.5 gallons, unless you fill too fast or too far and push gas over to the emissions canister. If you count on 2.1 gallons being left when the light comes on, chances are you are going to hoof it one of these days. nojoke

Find the fuel stop

I went by the 25 mile thing one time and did not make it to a fuel stop, But one other time riding in Texas three sisters and was getting heart burn trying to make it to the only gas station for miles and miles. That time I made it :bowdown::yikes::clap::yes:

Rather than noticing the light, I go by my trip odometer reading. At 140 miles I start looking for a gas station. Based on past experience, at 160 miles the Spyder takes 5.5 gallons. I'm averaging over 29 mpg on my ST-S.

I use the odometer and usually fill up between 130 and 150 miles on my 2012 RT. I have about 10,000 miles on it and by using the odometer I've never worried about running out of gas. I've owned too many Harley's to ever trust a fuel gauge. But that's just me. To each his own.
