• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

"Report this post's feature not working?

I've had reason to report a couple of off-topic or objectionable posts to one or more threads recently and received no response of any kind from moderators. I don't if that feature is working or not.

Report a post maybe seen by Moderators or Administrators and acted on if needed. The person that makes the report will not hear back most time but may or may not see action taken on post taken. So because you did not get a response to your report is normal. There are times a Moderator will reply if they feel it necessary but not always and will not if it involves action concerning another member. The report system is working as it should. Thank you for your concern.

Just adding/expanding a little to that ^^ reply from CS (orright, maybe it's gonna be a 'lottle'! ) You should all be a little bit careful, maybe even circumspect when reporting posts & not just blast them out cos you can! One of our Rules here says: 5. Don't abuse or encourage abuse of the user reputation system, post/thread reporting functions or other functions of the site. ..... and reporting a post just cos you don't like the person &/or their sense of humour is arguably doing just that! :sour: So please, try to exercise a little bit of restraint & tolerance here on the Forum! :lecturef_smilie: Similarly, a single post or maybe even 3 or more that's not strictly addressing your idea of what the thread topic should be doesn't necessarily mean someone's gone & hijacked the thread - we like to see people discuss things and engage in conversation here, so sometimes that means the topic might wander a bit and we generally DON'T try to cut that sort of on-going discussion short, especially if it's something that might help others! Often, something that's sorta only slightly veering away from the strict interpretation of the topic may well be left there on purpose, because THAT's the way the conversation or discussion is leading and there's obviously an interest in it.....

Besides, and I'm going back a ways here now; when the task of running this Forum grew beyond a one or two person job & they had other more pressing concerns, the Forum Owner here appointed a Mod/Admin Team to make all those sorts of judgements and to keep the Forum operating the way it should without letting members run wild! So IT'S OUR (collective) CALL ON THAT SORT OF THING, NOT YOURS! :nojoke Nor is it YOUR job to pull people into line &/or take them to task for whatever perceived transgression they may have committed, or chastise them if you don't like their attempts at humour! :gaah: If you start doing that, then YOU are at risk of earning yourself some appropriate sanction here! Sure, if a post is downright rude, offensive, racist, or otherwise clearly breaches the Rules here, then report that post/those posts to bring them to our attention and the Mod/Admin Team will consider any neccessary action; but try to be SURE that you aren't being too pedantic or frivilous in doing so, or breaking any other rules when you do/if you post a reply - hey, if you aren't sure and don't want to offend/get yourself into the brown smelly stuff, then you can even send any one of us Mods a PM, and we will try to answer/make clear why we'd choose or chose whatever action, but please, don't abuse that either - we might be Moderators/Admin here but we all have other things to do and our own lives to live besides! :p

And certainly, if you DO think a post is a clear breach of Forum rules that warrants reporting & is not just someone trying but failing to be humourous, nor is it you being pedantic &/or frivolous about the application of the rules here, then by all means, Report it instead of breaking the rules by taking it upon yourself to tell them off - but regardless, if anyone DOES report a post, ALL the Mod/Admin Team will get to see it; and even if one of us jumps in to take immediate preventative action, it's still OUR (collective) decision on what action is taken or otherwise! You may not see whatever occurs or not from a post being reported; but rest assured, if a post has been reported, then it DOES get considered :2thumbs: Even if sometimes it's gonna be from the 'is this a breach of Rule 5' angle!

Additional: When someone reports a post, all the moderators receive the notice on our personal e-mails. A click on the post takes us right to SL and the offending post.

As mentioned above, the moderators check it out and if action is needed we may or may not discuss it among us...it all depends on the issue. Most of the time action is taken, but the original reporting person is usually not contacted...unless circumstances warrant it.

With five us getting the message, rest assured action is usually taken quickly if needed.
