• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replaced Rear tire, now have multiple fault codes! Need some advice.

Hope all is well with everyone.
Just replaced the rear tire and the rear brake pads on my 2015 F3. Everything went well and was running the bike at idle on the lift to check belt clearance. All was well until I inadvertently shut the bike off with it idling in first gear.
Now have three codes.
ABS Malfunction
VSS Malfunction
Limp Home Mode Flashing
All three say have to go to dealer. Sadly the closest dealer is horrible and the decent dealer is 55 miles away. Secondly my trailer is only 5’ by 10’ and the Spyder won’t fit.
Any procedures that I can do to help the situation? Have pulled the key and waited a few minutes but codes are still present.

That is usually all it takes Tourer. ;)

Unless you've done/damaged something else during the work you did, the reason it's giving you codes now is because you ran the Spyder with the rear wheel in the air! :lecturef_smilie: That meant the computer sensors reported ONLY the rear wheel turning and also showed the front wheels stopped at the same time; which in a running Spyder with 3 wheels on the ground means the VSS has failed, the ABS isn't working, and the bike is unsafe to ride in anything but Limp Home Mode, cos something REALLY BAD is going on - for a bike with 3 wheels on the ground & supposedly moving anyway! :shocked:

But you know you had the rear wheel in the air, so it's just that you've confused the computer, and putting the rear wheel back down onto the ground and gently/carefully riding it for 30-100 metres or so with a few turns thrown in & a bit of gentle braking should let all the sensors report that everything is working properly & therefore proceed to reset those codes/conditions, letting you get on with things happily. :thumbup: And not running it with the rear wheel in the air ever again should mean you don't get those codes/conditions again unless something is really wrong! :ohyea:

However, this occurrence will remain forever recorded in the computer's memory as an ABS/VSS/Limp Home incident (albeit 'forever' is possibly just until it's reset by a dealer/BUDS :dontknow: ) so you juuust might find your Spyder a wee tad more sensitive to responding to ABS/VSS sensor inputs like that again - first time, it took a while before the codes/conditions kicked in; second time, the computer's got a record saying it's seen it before, so it's a recurring problem & it might not take so long to trigger, or be quite so easy to fix; third time.... :rolleyes: Do you really need to ask me how I know this occurs?!? :opps:
 
Yes, take it for a ride and all these codes will reset themselves. Computer doesn't care for rear wheel turning and front tires still.

After I aligned my belt by running it with its Ass in the air I got codes. :yikes::yikes:

Multiple Error Code After Rear Wheel Removal

I just finished removing, and reinstalling, my real wheel to install a new tire, new EBC brake disk, and new brake pads. All parts went back on in the reverse order of removal. After finishing and test startup I had several faults that I had never had before, ABS, VSS, and EBD. I know what each one is, but I can't figure what I could have possibly messed up removing the rear wheel.

Any ideas? Suggestions of any kind would be appreciated.

Running the rear wheel in the air will get you the VSS faults; not sure why ABS would be on; and I don't know what EBD is. So you just need to get out and go for a ride, so that all 3 wheels are spinning

Thank you Woodaddict! After sending in my post I started thinking and wondered if that might be the very reason. I had my rear wheel in the air to check the rear brake before I put it on the road and knowing how VSS is supposed to work I should have know better. I would almost think it will explain the EBD fault also.

The systems must have been changed from the time my old girl was made, because I can run mine all day long in the air and not throw any codes!
