• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing the trunk and wheel fenders

I have removed all of the other silver parts pretty easily, but want to know what is involved in removing the trunk lid and wheel fenders?

thanks in advance

Fenders are pretty easy. Remove wheels and tires and from underneath, you'll see four hex-head bolts holding them on to the inner fender. Don't remember the size but their wrench size is probably 8-10mm. The lights must be disconnected, also... pinch clips there.

Open the trunk and note the hinge bolt on which the hood is mounted. Remove the rubber end caps and then remove that one bolt and again, waa-lah. I believe the bolt head and nut wrench sizes are 10mm. The front trim strip will be removed at the same time. After trunk lid removal, you'll see that the front trim piece is just clipped onto the trunk lid.

I used my bike lift/jack under the front frame, lift both wheels off the ground, put a couple of 4 X 4 post pieces under the lower A-arms and let the :spyder2: back down to rest on the 4 X 4's. Remove the lug nuts and wiggle the wheel assy out. Per the previous post, the 4 bolts are available from the bottom. I don't believe you can get at the bolts withour removing the wheel.

Alternatively, you can just unbolt the fender support and then remove the fender from the support. I prefer the first way as the alignment is maintained.

you dont have to remove the wheels...just remove the bolts that fasten the fender suports to the hub...you could push the fender lights thru the fender and unbuckle the staps that hold the harness to the supports...easy peezy

Removing the wheels is the way I did it. Here are two pics that show the fender mounting bolts with the wheel off. Notice there are three bolts per bracket but only two go through to the fender. The third one holds on the fender brace, stiffener or whatever you want to call that piece. The two bolts side by side, on the same side of the bracket, are the ones you want to remove.

hmmm... I notice I was out working on the Spyder with my slippers and jammies on... :opps: Nope, I'm not addicted at all. :D :D :D

I searched for a detailed post I had (with many pics) about removing the fender tip lights and fenders but it must have been in one of the older iterations of SpyderLovers whose posts are now gone.
