Remounting licnese under tail of bike...examples...

Lights are in the works right now. Not legal as it is here in MI either. Although I have been followed 3 times by cops (1 state cop) and never got pulled over. I think they just want to see the spyder and either dont notice or dont care? It is actually very visible mounted this way to whoever is behind you.

On our ride out the the Hollywood Owners event, I lost my plate on the first day of the ride just past Cuba, MO. I rode my Spyder from Missouri to California and back to Michigan without any plate and no police officer ever pulled me over.

Too late :roflblack::roflblack: I am impatient :gaah: So as mentioned, I ordered a similar model ( Stainless steel ). Little more cost, but got everything for less than $40. Still can't complain, cheap mod compared to what I have spent on other things :roflblack::roflblack::yikes:

Heck, I have already done a mock up pic using a little coloring and cut/pasting to see the look...

I am so addicted to this thing.......

Make sure you angle your plate WAY back. Mine was mounted that way and was torn off on the second ride. If you look in the pic I posted, you can see the damage it did to the tail section. That is why I have it mounted where it is now and that's where it is staying LOL.

Here is the mount and LED's for the project. I think the angle looks pretty good, let me know your comments if not :)

There are only 2 people in this world I trust, one of them is me and the other isn't you. Name that movie!

On a serious note....ya never know who you can and cant trust these days

The movie is Con Air, where John Cusack and Nick Cage are having their stare-down...

And you guys have convinced me to take my fender off. The inevitable is happening and the thing is starting to crack, so off it comes.

Finally someone got it, Congrats! Fenderless is the best!

Looks great Riker. Now I need to convince you to get rid of the thing that is sticking 2' in the air above your headlights. :roflblack::roflblack: Are you happy with the plate how it turned out ???

hehehe... Hey....leave my windshield alone :lecturef_smilie: ,,,:2thumbs:

Like it a lot.... :firstplace:

I would strongly recommend not bending your plate down like that. I wish I would have actually bent mine up more.

:agree:

Have had mine mounted like this using the kit from EVO-- but it's bottomed out numerous times and bent the plate..... going to go with a lower side-mount I think-- kid of like BJT did....

Yup, had the same kit. Mine hit and and got ripped off by the rear wheel and broke the tail section that its mounted to. Just ordered a new one along with a few other things.

First off, Spyd3R... Thank you... Thak you very much!! :) Love that flick! In terms of the rear fender... This was the main reason I kept my rear fender on for so long; I didn't want to lose the plate and cause any damage back there as a result of rippage! But now that the fender brackets are going away I'm taking the plunge and pulling it off! One thing I have noticed is that guys that have the sport rack installed seem to have a few more options for accomplishing this. One of the best jobs I ever saw was a gentleman who took a C14 rear fender assembly and fitted it onto this Spyder. The sport rack gave him a bit more room to move the assembly back far enough to where rubbing the rear tire was not a problem. Came out looking really good too. However, Riker seems to have done a very nice job there. I do not think that will be any trouble at all. So now I can't wait to get this ridiculous thing off!

Just make a little pocket on your jackets like the clear plastic stuff and put the plate in there, should work. :joke:

Glad I could help. I do agree about the sport rack, definitely seems to be more options. I have also seen a few pictures of people that custom fit fenders from other bike, looks very nice! I also definitely agree that Riker did a great job on the install but being that I have had it mounted there, I would still recommend bending it back to at least straight. It also seems that it is mounted even lower than the Evoluzione kit which will obviously put it closer to the tire. Looks like an accident waiting to happen. Either way, we can only give advice. Looks great and hope it works great for you Riker! Make sure your rear shock is stiffened up ;)

I am new to bikes and have no idea how much the suspension and tire would move...

I have rear stock shock set at highest level 5. I ride 1 up 97% of the time. I just measured the distance from the tag to the tire... 5.25 inches all the way across.

Your telling me that rear will drop that much ( I guess in combo with tire potentially coming up )?

Ehh, that does not seem like a big distance at all. It definitely looks like the Evoluzione kit mounted a lot higher and mine hit on the second ride. Was not even mounted for 24hrs. Would definitely recommend moving it up and bending your plate up. Attached is a pic of how mine was before it was ripped off if it helps.

Riker I agree that you should bend the plate back straight. We ride 2 up with ours alot and the only time it ripped off was when my shock was not at it's stiffest setting. We have been ok ever since. I have to keep an eye on Holly wieght though, because I don't want to lose my plate. :roflblack::roflblack:

I feel I have to put something of a discalimer on my situation; I am what you would call a "larger individual". I wouldn't say I'm fat, but... well, OK, I'm kinda fat!! :roflblack: I'm workin on it though....
