REMINGTON GUN CO.

Sorry guys; I'm not buying your line of reasoning...:dontknow:
The question of gun ownership isn't a Political one; it's just a matter of personal choice. (Or at least it should be)
If you're trying to remove any and all debate from here; we'll all be left with a very simple and dry format:
"What's new?"
"Nothing here; what's new with you?"
OR
"My bike is busted."
And then Scotty or Lamont will help them...

An honest difference of opinion can offer the opportunity for some lively an informative exchange of viewpoints.
Oh! If you think I'm so smart; ask my Missus!:opps:

Good Lord Bob, what planet are you living on? Of course the question of gun control is political, I can't think of a more highly charged and divided political issue in the US. Look at your posts above, you yourself used the work "Politicos" in post #3, "piece of crap law" in post #9, and then you ranted about "Political Ambition and Cowardice" and Governor Cuomo in post #12. And now you're trying to tell us with a straight face that your posts were not political? Seriously??? You must consider us idiots.

The issue here is not guns but forum policy. Lamont has asked us in no uncertain terms not to post -anything- political. He feels so strongly about this that he has stated a "Zero Tolerance" policy. How can that be any clearer? No one is trying to "remove any and all debate", that's ridiculous, there is no end of non-political issues to debate here. What you are doing is willfully and un-apologetically disrespecting and breaking the forum owner's rules. You apparently seem to feel you have the right to set your own policies in place of his to suit your own agenda in a forum you do not own. Apparently you would like to post highly divisional political issues on a site devoted to motorcycles completely against the wishes of the site owner. Is this a coup? Has Lamont been replaced by Bob Denman?

Bob, you simply don't have the right to set your own policies here, none of us do. If you want to do that please start your own forum. This is Lamont's forum, his business, and his rules. Currently they clearly state no political posts, zero tolerance. If you continue to blatantly flaunt his rules you'll need to answer to him, I've done all I can do trying to point this out to you.

Always one in every forum that wants to be the rule enforcer. It is usually best to report your concern to the OP and let them decide if the rules are being violated. Otherwise, things get ugly like they did here.

Just out of curiosity, what does 'OP' mean to you? I thought it meant original poster.

Cheap shot, I detest having to keep bringing this up but it has occurred again and again over the course of many months. When brought to the attention of administration the offending posts were quickly removed. But rather than do that again I thought I'd appeal to those responsible to stop doing it. Just trying to be proactive rather than reactive. It would be nice if we could resolve some of these issues amongst ourselves rather than make Lamont do all the dirty work. If you want to diss someone try first with the offending poster rather than the person trying to stop it from happening again.

If you want things to get really ugly just let people keep posting highly divisive political issues. The rule in question exists for that very reason.

We're all responsible for respecting the rules here and sorry but sometimes it's necessary to point that out, especially when the same people break them again and again and again.

Can we switch the topic to religon to make everyone feel better ????????? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Fair enough. I just hate seeing this on such a great forum. One of the great things about this forum is the amount of respect everyone shows each other. This thread seemed to wander off course from that.

I couldn't agree more. That's exactly why divisive political posts are so dangerous. We're loosing respect for each other as a country due to politics, let's at least keep them out of here and all stay friends.

Been gone all weekend competing my two dogs - anything political about dog shows? Glad to see everybody enjoyed this post so much.

When the word politican is used to me it means all parties and maybe individuals not associated with a party! I believe everyone acts as a politican more then they care to admit.

Sometimes it is nice when the good is extracted from a couple of statements and the rest is ignored. then there is always ' if you don't have anything good to say, say nothing at all'.

Anyway I had a very interesting and great weekend away with my dogs, and I'm glad you guys were all entertained. Thank goodness for Al Gore inventing the internet or someone may have gotten hurt.

Before the turn of the century there was a forum on Delphi (remember them?) that was dedicated to a single brand of satellite receiver, Motorola's 4DTV.

It was a great receiver with some odd, quirky engineering.
The updates needed to be done regularly and could only be done from the Motorola.

Most people on this forum were just regular guys wanting to enjoy C Band viewing but there were some very knowledgeable broadcast engineers who could diagnose and solve almost any technical issue.

Everything went tickety-boo for a few years.

Then some people felt so strongly about the personal life of a particular politician that there were many posts and threads devoted to the topic.

The forum admin didn't know what to do.
Some posters cried "Censorship" and "First Amendment Rights".

The Admin decided to have a special area that people could spout off about any topic they wanted. It was called "The BreakRoom"
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
But, it didn't work.
Soon, the venom of the BreakRoom spilled over into all the other areas.
The forum collapsed.

Too bad too.
There were a lot of people there who were joined by the need to know details about a particular consumer product and used the forum to gain insight into the workings of a great and technically superior receiver.

It's a sign of the times. Last time I remember this country so divided(in general) was when we came home from the war.

There's a simple fix here tho.

The OP should delete a post that has obviously gone south.

That won't heal what ailes the country but it'll put a STOP to this.

You're all good people who have at least one thing in common. Spyders. Keep it that way

It seems to me the only one who made it truly political was someone who is anti guns.. Its really simple...if you dont like the topic, stay out.
Calling "foul" is only a way to shout your political views.......

Wow! :yikes:
There are some folks in here who wear their hearts just a wee bit close to their hides...
I was certainly trying pretty hard to be repectful... Part of any conversation that involves a divergence of opionion dictates that.

I agree with Randy; Let's just discuss religion, and cast the Heathens into the Pit! :roflblack:

This makes no sense to me. If you feel so strongly that these posts should not be on here, why are you responding to them. Just leave them alone. I feel VERY strongly about the gun debate, being previous military and feel we are being railroaded. So, that being said, if you dont like the topic, stay away from the post.

Don't look now; but, I think you are one of them. You got pretty wound up there, Bob.

I'm not sure if I'm anti-gun. But, my daughter called me this weekend to tell me her husband (a state trooper) gave her a shooting lesson. My first thought was OMG; my daughter is dangerous enough without a gun in her hand. My second thought was, I can't wait to go visit them in Kingston to see how bad I am at hitting the target. In the SeaBees we had to qualify each year with the M16. I'm not sure how I qualified; I got the feeling I had help on my left and right. I was told if we were in a combat situation that they give me a shotgun with buckshot.

I think that my hide is "reasonably" thick... ;)
The part of this that has annoyed me; is that by calling an topic "Political", it can be removed from here without regard as to whether it actually is a political issue. :sour:
Now; are we debating gun ownership, or whether or not it is a political issue best left alone? :dontknow:

Pro,
You are correct on several counts:
I did refer to Cuomo...
I did refer to a specific law in less than a complimentary fashion...
And I did mention Political Ambition AND Cowardice...

But I was actively trying to skirt the issue of Political parties while doing so.
I certainly don't consider you to be an idiot; you are obviously a very well-spokem literate individual who clearly knows a thing or three about how to communicate effectively.
I apologize if I gave you the wrong impression... :opps:

But have we decided that any discussion that involves a difference of opinion is now a "Political" one? :dontknow:

What Planet do I live on? Ask my Missus; she'll tell you that I live on hers! :roflblack:

throw the Christians to the lions, (wait a minute, i am a christian, lets don't do that)

Bob:

I am on your side on this one, and will defend my right to be on your side, (is that political??).
