Remington Gun is going to spend $20 million to expand/update their plant in NY state. That is a good thing except - I have not heard one word about whether they tried to put any pressure on our state political figures to repel the stupid, insane, & useless gun law that was passed here.

that should be good for the economy around ilion and utica ny!!!:pray:

:agree: That is absolutely the good part, along with the fact that they intend to stay here and not move out of state.
thank the good lord that some good old companies are sticking around! little story about how great a co. Remington is. 30 years ago I had an 1100 that I shot the :cus: out of during duck and goose season for 10 years. one day the butt plate sat in the bottom of my canoe sucking up water from a beating rain. when I got home the stock was swollen up about 1/4" bigger than the butt plate. I loved that gun so much I stopped by the plant one day (at there request after a few phone calls) and was taken thru the gate to meet a product mgr., that took me to the wood shop to select a new stock and matching forearm to put on my gun. I truly expected to pay for it, but they replaced the two with select grade pieces at no expense. needless to say, I've bought a few remingtons since then!!!!

They were in Albany on the 28th for the big rally...
A very large contingent of Remington employees were very visible, and vocal!

I don't know what pressure they've been able to bear on the Politicos regarding all of the current foolishness...
Word on the street, is that Cuomo is not going to budge an inch... :gaah:

Yer just trying to reel me aren't you Bob?

You'd probably have a coronary if you became my Facebook friend....;)

Dan,
I swear; I wasn't!
Firearms owners across New York State are appalled at this piece or crap law that was "knee-jerked" in existence...
Now; as a firm believer in the law; I will abide by it.
I've got two handguns that exceed the 7 round capacity that are being sold.
the rest are fine...
But As a Sportsman Educator for the State; I have resigned my position.
They want to make me into a criminal; they can find somebody else to volunteer their time and efforts to teach for them... :gaah:
And I taught Hunter Safety courses for 20 years; I did not make this decision lightly...

I can't say that I blame ya bob for doing just that. it's all a bunch of :cus: bureaucratic :cus:!!!!!!! it's a shame that twenty years of teaching and talking safe handgun useage had to end with this!

Would not give up my '80's 870 for nothing. Bought a new 887 last year. Now if i can get a .17WSM after they come out next month. That will be my new coyote rifle.

It's the semi-automatic hunting guns that they're trying to kill of that hurts...
Your 870 shotgun should always be fine!
This was a law born out of Political Ambition AND Cowardice at the same time... :hun:
Cuomo has made no bones about it; he wants D.C. in 2016...
He wanted to be the Governor who could step forth and say, " I was the one who made the streets safe for our children! :roflblack:
So his law going in was even more restrictive...
Until one of his Toadies spoke up...
"We have a problem; your Lordship... this law will make the Colt 1911-A1 illegal... That would alienate the U.S. veterans in New york City who support you!"
"How many rounds does it hold?"
"Seven"
"Then restrict them to no more than that!"
A compromise born of cowardice... :gaah:

Bob,

The only one you're hurting is yourself. I'm fairly sure you enjoyed teaching. They'll just find someone else and life goes on.

The only option that I have, is to step back and reduce the number of available courses for the public...
When they ask me why; I'll tell them EXACTLY why...
Then they can go scream at a Politican about the issue.
It's the only arrow in my quiver...

Lamont's rule from the Sticky at the top of the Off-Topic Board:

New Off Topic Board- Read before posting here!
The OTB is going to be an experiment of sorts of what to do with "good" Off Topic post.
Please read and abide by these rules.

There will be Zero Tolerance for political post here.
All such post will be deleted without explanation. If you choose to ignore this rule repeatedly you may lose your membership on this site.

Grumpybob why can't you follow the rules of this forum? You keep posting political views concerning firearms here even though they're often deleted. Every forum has its rules and if you respected the forum owner you'd follow them.

And Bob Denman, you also know full well it's against the forum's rules and yet you continue to use this forum to state your political positions on gun laws any chance you get. You use this forum more than anyone else and then you blatantly disrespect its rules even when they're very clearly stated?

What part of "Zero Tolerance" don't you guys understand? I have my own views on such politics but I'll now keep them to myself in respect of Lamont's wishes. If I want to debate politics I'll go to a politically oriented forum where it's allowed, not one where the forum owner has clearly prohibited such posts.

You're calling it "political"...
That doesn't mean that it is!
Now to my simple mind; that's more about political parties
You know; "Your guy's an idiot because he's a 'this' or 'that'. Our side, (whichever!) is the only one on the path to righteousness!"
This is simply more a discussion (that has happened here countless other times) about a choice that you can make for yourself
Just like: helmet usage, tire brand, air pressure, favorite NASCAR driver, oil brand, which dealer to use, etc...
I get that you don't like guns; good for you!  You probably shouldn't own any if you're uncomfortable around them... nojoke

NOW!! Having just said all of that...
If I'm wrong as to how I've interpreted this... Lamont; just PM me and I'll be happy to bite my lower lip and pipe down... :opps:

I'm sorry Bob, I'm not buying it. No one here is simple minded enough to not understand that gun control is without any question an extremely political issue. You're a smart guy and you own your own business, don't try to hide behind feigned simple mindedness. If you were actually simple minded that might explain some of your views :joke:, but you're not. The fact is that you and grumpybob are twisting the rules of this forum for your own political agenda. What if everyone did that? Then Spyderlovers would cease to be a motorcycle forum and would become a dumping ground for everyone's latest hot issues. No one wants that. People come here to escape politics not have them shoved back in their face. This incredible forum is being offered to you free of charge. All that is asked is that we all follow a few simple rules, is that so hard? As the leading poster here (for better or for worse) you should set a much better example. Again what part of "Zero Tolerance" don't you understand? I would have thought that would be clear enough to cover any grey zone even if you were simple minded.

Keep your politics to yourself at least here. If you want to debate political issues that's fine, even commendable, but please, do it in the proper place.

Well Bob.... I can't say that debating gun law is anything like debating NASCAR drivers. One is political and the other is about who makes the best left hand turns...;-).

I really tire of all the gun rhetoric, but I try and stay out of it out here. If you really want to know my opinions (along with some interesting stats and facts)....send me a pm or look me up on Facebook. ;-).

Or just ask HDX his opinion on gun law and assume mine is 180 degrees from that..... Lol

Sorry guys; I'm not buying your line of reasoning...:dontknow:
The question of gun ownership isn't a Political one; it's just a matter of personal choice. (Or at least it should be)
If you're trying to remove any and all debate from here; we'll all be left with a very simple and dry format:
"What's new?"
"Nothing here; what's new with you?"
OR
"My bike is busted."
And then Scotty or Lamont will help them...

An honest difference of opinion can offer the opportunity for some lively an informative exchange of viewpoints.
Oh! If you think I'm so smart; ask my Missus!:opps:

this subject is not a straight party line topic. mike bloomburg was elected as a republican as the mayor of new York. on may 10th, 2010 he established himself with no party affiliation, and the list goes on and on. there's boneheads in each party. not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, just saying----
