• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Reflections on recent upgrades

I just completed the most work on the Fat White Chick since I bought her. Let me offer some reflections on the results. Today was my first test drive, and next week I am taking her to Spyderfest.

Doc Humphrey's vibration damper -- I am so impressed with the results of this. My Spyder would vibrate rather violently about 75 mph, with a lesser range in the 50s. It made highway riding very uncomfortable, and I was generally forced to keep the speed below 70 and stay in the right lane. Today I got it up to about 81 indicated to pass a truck, and had the cruise on 76-77 for about 30 miles of testing. The heavy vibration is gone, and all I sensed was an occasional low frequency hum. I suspect I now can feel the tires on the roadway. My feet no longer tingle after being vibrated for a period of time.

Lamont's LED head and fog lights -- Haven't driven at night yet, but I like the clean white light they emit. I run both all the time and believe I will be even more visible.

F4 wide and tall windshield -- This was the upgrade I decided to perform rather late in the game. My original intent was to shop them once I got to Spyderfest, but my wife convinced me I was a moron to use the old windshield for half the trip. I get a lot of head buffeting at highway speed with the OEM shield all the way up. The F4 removed most of it, and it is much easier to see through it as it is optically very clear. Also, it doesn't get any easier than Windex and a paper towel to clean it.

Stebel horn -- Had one before on my Suzuki, just waiting for an opportunity...hopefully I can make some old fart pee their pants!

Noboot's billet windshield arm -- Decided this was important with the bigger windshield. The job was a bear, but I think I see a hairline crack starting in the old windshield arm. The idea of having the windshield dumped in my lap at highway speed was incentive enough to get this done.

Merlot's mirror magnets -- One, they are so easy to install. Two, my mirrors always vibrated on the road and gave a distorted picture to the rear. I am amazed how quiet they are now with perfectly clear images at highway speed.

FOBO tire sensors -- My wife insisted on these for the trip, and I am impressed how well they are working so far. One even gave me a warning because I didn't screw it in and it was slowly leaking. Also bought Lamont's tire compressor, and am very impressed with it as well.

We are blessed as a community to have so many talented people making products on our behalf. I commend them all for their patience and commitment to helping our Spyder family.

see my signature, only the last six items are the new ones. I'm way past starting to farkle, but this bunch required the most Tupperware removal I had to do. I'm about done with upgrades for a while.
