There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Reducing Heat from Engine

I noticed a lot of heat coming onto my legs from the engine. With the Texas summer rapidly approaching, I need to nip that in the bud and FAST! I guess someone has developed some type of device to deal with this issue.

Also, once the bike reached 600 miles, does the bike perform better (e.g. smoother shifting, less backfiring, etc)?

The pipes that came with the bike. I was thinking that I was shifting at wrong time or something like that. I do not know. It only happens once in a while. However, the heat off that engine is epic!

The only heat problem I get is when the fan comes on when waiting at a light.Fan blows hot air on my right foot but not a real problem for me.Thats the only heat issue I have.

I just added a Fan Can from Isics, It's not hot yet! here in ohio but I notice that I have no heat on my right leg. :2thumbs:]

:dontknow:
If it's the stock muffler and it's backfiring it's most likely running too lean, Which will make for more heat. But don't forget your sitting on a engine which is basally a heat pump, so some heat is normal. And if your riding with shorts and sneakers, you'll really feel heat. Make sure your dealer checks out the backfiring with, the stock muffler it should not happen.

:agree: Get it checked out.

:agree:too! Get it checked out! Regarding too hot - my husband cut a piece of plexiglass, heat it to fit the curve of the tupperware and attached it to the inside - you can't even see it and it makes a world of difference!

I'm not sure if that is a good idea with the plexiglass. That hole in the tupperware is there for a reason. You might be putting the heat back on the engine. But what do I know, I'm a Yankee's fan !!!:roflblack: How long have you had that installed and what does it do to the temp of the bike ???

I had mine installed last year at SITS. They make your ride cooler in the summer, although they don't do anything to cool off that right foot, and channel the cold air away from you in the winter. I highly recomend them!

I'll let my personal mechanic answer your questions :f_spider: -

This is Wayne-I didn't block off the main airflow - that large opening is still there and fully functional. The piece blocks airflow in the gap between the right side cover and the main body. As far as we can tell from the temp gauge no change was seen in a hotter motor. It has been installed for over a year/20K miles. The hottest she's ridden in was approaching 100 degF in southern Utah last summer - she melted :yikes: but the bike ran nicely and her leg was not over cooked.

Good info thanks. Maybe I'll try it. I agree pictures would be nice to see of the install. It must be nice to ride 20k miles in a little over a year !!! Lucky dog !!!

The kits from Spyder Pops are good to go in order to help manage the heat. I also like the fan can from ISCI, and know that Geoff rydes during the summer in Alabama with nothing but Crocs on his feet, and did the same during Biketoberfest, without any heat issues. Many of us have also wrapped our exhaust pipes with the heat tape.

If you are getting backfiring with the stock pipe, then it definitely needs to be checked out. There may be a chance that your Y-Gaskets on your exhaust have worn out already. That can cause backfire issues and the heat will be much more intense as those joints are right next to your legs underneath the tupperware. If you need new Y-Gaskets, do a search on here for the Honda ones as they fit and are a much higher quality than the stock ones.

Now, with all of this being said, I am talking about the GS/RS model and don't know what issues the RT may have with heat.
