• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Recall done first impressions after stop & go traffic

They'll fit; there's no doubt about that...
The important question would seem to be:
"When might they become available, for the rest of the RTs?"

And who will pay ? I wonder how much it would cost if the owner does. At the current quoted rate it is 3 1/2 hrs labor +parts cost. That is a good thing though because it takes longer to do it if the EVAP is included in the package.

If the new vents get rid of the heat in the 2013 RT
will they feel like air conditioning on my 2014 RT :roflblack:

Who will pay? The person who wants to buy them... :D
Dave,
This isn't even close to an issue that's needs worrying about; right now...

The recall is strictly for the 2013 RTs. ;)
If somebody else with a '10, '11, or '12 wants to fight the fight; those parts might become available for them as well...
My clearly uneducated guess; is that BRP has built just enough of them to satisfy the recall...
If the Hue and Cry for them becomes large enough; they might end up available in the accessory catalog... :dontknow:

Another owner here of a 2010 and 2011 RT, then the 2014 RT. No issues here with excessive heat or fumes.

I would not expect BRP to extend the recall/fix to any other years--since most owners have been happy with those model years.

:lecturef_smilie: No....... That's not correct. I NEVER had any problems with fuel smells, or overheating of any type with my 2010. ;)

And others in here have also reported the same good luck!

You may not have had problems but many others including me have.

I don't care about the heat as it doesn't bother me. But on hot days stuck in traffic, when I get home the tank is boiling gas and the canister is exhausting fumes. MANY other people have complained of this even before the 2013's came out! So while you may not have had it, others have and I am speaking from experience.

So I don't think the 2010-12 need all the updates but the scoops and canister updates should be done to make the rest of us happier with the product. I just want the gas smell gone to be honest!

Now that they are an OEM part of the 2013 bikes, replacement parts must be made available. These parts will show up in the parts catalog. May be already if we knew the part numbers. Perhaps BRPCares could list the part numbers for those that wanted to order on their own nickel.

Anyone have the part number for the recall kit from their repair invoice? (mine is not handy).

Same here. I fixed my gas smell by eliminating the canister completely. But I really need to find a way to get the heat away from the gas tank. Boiling gas is not something that should be ignored. And if they make these scoops a replacement part I will purchase. And then fight for compensation.

Not sure that just those parts will help with the gas boiling...I think we need the fuel pressure regulator update to fix that. (I think that was the part returning the super heated gas to the tank anyway).

The part will not work on 2012 and older RTs. The part is just a block off disabling the pressure regulator. The real magic is in the PWM control of the fuel pump that the older bikes cannot do. At least as they are now.

We're mainly talking about the side scoops and the reworked canister. Not the fuel system. The reason for the scoops is the more airflow under the panels the cooler the tank can be. Doesnt get so heatsoaked.

I have always had fuel smell in my garage since my 2011 RT was brand new.

I am pretty confident that adding the scoops and the new Evap system will in fact help the 2010-2012's. May not do near what it does on 2013's but just the added airflow and new canister setup should help. If the kit is say $600, I will fork it out to try.
