• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Joe, while my spring add on works I think I want to go this route long term... Where did you buy this stuff from please?

Bob

Directly from BRP, if you have a good dealer he can order them for you and maybe save you a few dollars.

Joe, thank you, I couldn't ask for better information. I appreciate you willingness to help folks out, and your info is straight and to the point, and factual. I think I will just quit fooling around and ad a second gas shock, you parts list takes all of the guess work out of the job.

Thank you for that, that is a place I didn't know about and will check it out. But like Finless said, everything about the CanAm gas shock seems to be custom made for that particular use, size, strength, even the end fittings. Appreciate your help.

David

Heres another option and really cheap fix

I used a search engine for gas struts..There are a lot of places out there and may take a bit or research to find what you need.

Problem with this idea is you cannot get at the shock without removing the backrest. It's buried in there.

As Joe said... A paint stick is the cheapest solution ;)

Yes it stays up, i have a rack and a bag with momma's stuff in it and no problems at all

Cruzr Joe

Stopped by my friendly neighborhood BRP dealer and ordered all the "proper" parts.
My daddy always told me, any job worth doing is worth doing right!

Thanks again Joe!

To be honest I would pull the Gas Strut measure it and get something else probably cheaper with the same or close measurments.

My being MR Overkill on things I would use Two Gas struts if needed. One on each side of the trunk lid..JMO:coffee:

I was just throwing out things found on the internet since there's always a solution out there- I didn't look at the strut until this weekend.;)
