Rear tire

I have been unable to find anyone who carries “non” BRP rear tire.
Moogully, do you mean any local BRP dealer who carries a "non" BRP Kenda rear tire? You can purchase many oft recommended rear tires for Spyder's from Walmart, TireRack, Amazon, Ebay, and others as long as it's the correct size etc. My last list (for my '13 RTL) included

General Altimax RT 43 in size 215/60-15Kumho Ecsta AST 225/50 R15 91H
Kumho Solus KH17 225/60R15
Yokohama S.Drive 205-55-15"
Michelin Premier A/S in 205/60R-15
Federal Formoza AZ01 All-Season Radial Tire - 165/55R15 75V (Sorry, this was my latest fronts, not a Rear as OP asked about.)

Like " DGoebels " has mentioned BRP dealers sell ONLY BRP tires ..... There is another " OFFICIALLY Labeled Mtc " tire for the rear of the Spyder ...it is made by Vee Rubber co. and it's called the Arachnid ....however it has shown to be even more inferior to the Kenda's ....very high rate of defective tires and mediocre response from the seller ..... at least this is what has been said from many on this Forum ...... Mike

Only two, only two....

As Mike mentioned there are only two tires stating for motorcycle use only. Kenda and Arachnids of which BRP dealers only carry Kendas. Many have gone to car tires of which there are many. Dealers will not install them. I have no complaints, have used Kendas with good results and currently have an Arachnid which is doing well. Lots to read up on here if you go to car tires....:yikes:

Some dealers will install non BRP specified tires. I just had a BRP dealer mount and balance my new (Federal Formoza AZ01 All-Season Radial Tire - 165/55R15 75V ) front tires, and mount and balance all three of my friends General Altimax's

Then you're not trying very hard. Every tire store, including Wal-Mart, carries car tires to fit the rear of your bike.

There are TONS of threads discussing this on the forum.

Not true! You should have said, "Most Dealers" will not install them. Mine installed my Kuhmo Ecsta AST without even blinking an eye! :dontknow:

I had a can-am dealership install the tires on my spyder, but I signed a wavier. Deanna

I would not have signed the wavier. You are replacing the tyre with one of better construction. Kendra's are labeled M/C only to stop stupid people putting them on cars.

Currently running Falken XE912 on rear.

Cheers
Frank

Then you would have had to take your tire mount business elsewhere. Why should the dealer accept liability for your choice of tire?

New Kenda's ????

Dropped by my dealer's showroom the other day and found several new crapenda's on the tire rack. Parts man said they just got them in recently. I looked at them with my hands and the sidewalls for both the front tire and rear tire were stiffer than 3/4" plywood. They were much different and heaver than the OEM tires that I took off my spyder. The tread patterns are still the same but the new Kenda's seem to be much stronger and stiffer than the OEM Kenda's.

Thanks 2dogs.....that sounds promising for those of us who would rather have the dealer replace the rear tyre for whatever reason. I wonder if there will be any kind of announcement?
