Hello,
I am looking for someplace in Wisconsin/northern Illinois that will put a car tire on the rear of my Syders?

Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. Found one that said they would (Englhardt's in Madison WI). When I got there this morning for my appointment they said no they only would put a car tire on a Slingshot. I am not happy with them right now!

It's been said " there's No cure for Stupid " :agree: .... If they will mount an Auto tire on a Slingshot - which is legally defined as a motorcycle. Then why can't they mount an Auto tire on a Spyder - which is another vehicle legally defined as a motorcycle ????? .... both those veh's REQUIRE auto tires ( according to Fed D.O.T. regulations ) because they both have " J " style wheels / rims. Even H.D. ( Trikes ) come from the factory with ( last I checked ) Dunlop auto tires ..... good luck .... Mike

I live in Edgerton, I had the truck and body shop @ 2500 Morse St . in Janesville do mine last fall. I brought in the wheel assembly off my F3L

Thanks, but I'm not able/willing to try to do the removal and installation of the rear tire assembly.

Because sling shots, are made by Polaris, and they don't have stocks in there tire suppliers!!:gaah: That is the ONLY thing I can think of Mike,:dontknow:

Mad City Powersports will do it. I worked at Engelhart's for a few years. They tow the MFR line on service.

When I bought mine at Engleharts, they said they would put any tire on I brought in. I brought it in last fall and they didn't like the veredstien tire because the size was so different. I had to singe a paper taking full responsibility if it messed with the VSS. They mounted it though.

Mounting CTs on GL1800s got to be dificult to find around here. Went to - Walmart - and spoke to the techs. They have a tech that rides sport bikes and another that mounts tires for him. They said bring it in early on days they are working and no problem! I had three mounted there - they appreciated that I warned them of balancing beads in the tires (they can be dangerous on slick concrete!) Cost~ $12. Haven't tried Spyder mounting, but when the time comes I'll ask. BTW, they never chipped the powder coat on my rims, but a "bike shop" mangled a front rim and tried to charge $85!

The problem is genuine motorcycle wheels / rims do NOT have " J " type beads .... so they will never completely seal an Auto tire .... at least without a TUBE .... I had a GW and considered it but decided not to because of this issue .... some folks here go into Panic mode when told Auto tires fit Spyder wheels / rims ..... BRP feels the need to have Auto tires with the " special motorcycle tire " embossed on Kenda AUTO tire bead wheels .... HD doesn't give a Cr*p and uses Dunlops on their Trikes ..... go figure ..... Try Loves Park Motorsport in Roscoe, il , Not that far from you

If you don't mind me asking, what did they charge you? They want $300 each to change the rears.
I just had my local dealer replace my rear tire (5/15/21) for $220, this included the Kenda K9.

Like you I was not able to remove and replace the rear tire.

Dealer wasn't going to do the (Car Tire) bring in any tire thing.
Also the job was done in about 30 minutes.

I hope this is helpful information. . .....

You might want to check with Donahue Super Sports in Wisconsin Rapids. The service writer may want you to talk with Troy who does a great job servicing my Spyder.
