There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Rear rack bag question

Spyder ri

New member
I tried searching around, but no luck. I'm thinking about buying one of these bags. My question is: does this bag include a mounting plate which attaches / locks onto to the sport rack? Looks so from the photo but just want to be sure from any current owners.

Thanks

Just to clarify. I have the sport rack, just looking to see if the bag has a flat plate integrated so that it fits into the rack.

I have one of these for my RS. The photo is misleading because it does not show how the bag attaches to the rack plate.
The bag is held in place by four straps. You will have to drill two holes into the sides of the compartment under the rack plate to attach two plastic buckles via pop rivets (if I remember correctly). Two straps attach to the compartment, the other two straps attach to the passenger handrail.
When you remove the bag from the rack, the two plastic buckles will remain attached to the bike.

I had one of these as well and never mounted it. Having those buckles there all the time is silly. Also, the photo leads you to believe there is more room in that bag than there really is. It's SMALL! Smaller than a tank bag.

Don't know..!!

I believe "Givi" has them but are mounted to the rack lid. You probably could modify the mounting but depending on how permanent you want it to be. I use the back rest so I mounted a rack to the backrest for carrying luggage...

Too bad BRP couldn't come up with a nice bag that mounts in the same spot as the cover plate on the sport rack. That would be cool...

I agree, that back plate area would make a real nic spot to do a top case. Something that detaches quick and easily without misc straps around the grab handles and unsightly buckles

If you already have the sportrack you can easily add a (very) quickly removable Givi topcase, leaving the Givi mount in place. Did that on my '08 GS

Basically the instructions list the drill bit to use for the holes to rivet the buckles into place. You will need a riveter to put them in. The only negative from the bag that I can see is a little bit of the stitching came came out between the bottom of the bag and the rear strap and that's probably from me cranking the side straps down extra tight. I like having it though since it gives me a place to put my glasses and their case, bottled water, shield cleaning cloth&!cleaner and a few other small items. The top flap has a mesh pocket where I can put my registration/ insurance cards.
