• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear preload

Hi all, my black and chrome S model is being delivered today!!! I was told be the dealer that there is no preload adjustment on the rear shock, is this true?

That is correct. There is no preload adjustment for the rear shock. The front shocks are adjustable.

Well that's about the most ignorant thing I have ever heard of....... The rear spring is under strength for an average guy as it has a sprung weight of 360 odd lbs. Add the weight of the unit to the weight of an average guy and gear and you are maxed out all ready. Now let's say you add a passenger or saddlebags, backrest, etc.. You can quickly see where this is going.

I'm guessing you an RT......you can get up to 80 lbs pressure in them......I can't imagine that isn't going to enough........Doc Humphrey's may have what you need for about $ 75 (?).........Mike

Nah Mike he's getting an F3-S. I'm totally amazed that his dealer didn't pick up on the fact that he's a BIG guy and offer to sort out the suspension
for him.

What is #1 ?

Knowing what you know and what your needs are, why didn't you ask before you bought it after your test ride? Or at least ordered one with the upgraded rear shock. The F3-S Package options are pretty clear on what is included- none of them have upgraded shocks.

My dealer told me that it was adjustable and the fact that in 35 years or riding I have never seen a non adjustable shock......

the 1k fox upgrade has the same spring rate as the stock sachs shock so spending that 1 k would have done very little for me

Check the elka shocks ,they start to produce different stage shocks for the rear and front for the F3

Sounds like . . . .

. . . . . you and your dealer have an issue to resolve.

In my 42 years of riding, I've seen plenty without adjusters.

Last year when I bought my ST-S, I noticed that it didn't have adjustable shocks on the front ( like my GS ) or rear. That turned out to be OK for me.

In checking out the F3 for the demo ride, I was glad to see that it's front shocks were adjustable and was OK with the rear being standard.

Anyway, it sounds like your saying even if it was adjustable, it would not fit you needs. So I would work with the dealer ( who said it was ) to get a rear shock that works for you.

I noticed that during the test "sit and bounce" during the winter months as we couldn't ride. For that reason I went with the Fox rear shock option. Adjustable spring and damping. Works great! P.s. I didn't ride one with the stock shock.
