Hi, I have a 2014 RT. Currently the rear lock cylinder is not turning to lock (thankfully it is stuck in the unlocked position). The bag/trunk latches work and I can access everything, just cant turn the key lock as it is firmly stuck in the unlocked position. Tried some forum searches and not finding anything similiar, so...
I have a few questions;
1) is there a catch mechanism like a filing cabinet that requires all trunk latches to be closed before the lock will turn? thinking maybe something needs to be adjusted before the cylinder will rotate.
2) i have the cylinder for the trailer i never bought, can this be used to switch out the rear cylinder if it is something to do with the cam?
3) can i change out the cylinder myself? (on a scale of 1-5, 1 being not knowing the difference between a hammer and screwdriver and 5 being godlike mechanic.. i rate a strong 3.5)
4) anyone else change out the cylinder themselves and can provide some tips?
5) am I going to have to take apart the whole rear end to do it, lol?
6) do i need a locksmith to checkout/changeout the cylinder?
Not the end of the world right now as it is in the unlocked position, but want to fix. Just not sure what it will entail, if i should attempt and if i have to rip off the entire back to do it!
Thanks for the look and HELPFUL comments..
