Ever since I purchased my 2008 SM5 spyder in Jan. 2009 I've had a howling noise that sounds like it's coming from the rear brakes. The noise happens only when I'm in reverse and backing up (engine running) and with the engine off and the clutched pulled in and pushing the spyder backwards. The rear brakes were switched to Generation 3 in April of 2011. The noise seemed to lessen for awhile and then came back.
My dealer mentioned the cause may be brake dust. I know when I have washed the spyder with a hose and have sprayed the pads, especially the back ones, the noise has lessened.
I'm wondering if it is the rear brakes and spraying the brakes with water is all that can be done.
