• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

rear brake noise???

Ever since I purchased my 2008 SM5 spyder in Jan. 2009 I've had a howling noise that sounds like it's coming from the rear brakes. The noise happens only when I'm in reverse and backing up (engine running) and with the engine off and the clutched pulled in and pushing the spyder backwards. The rear brakes were switched to Generation 3 in April of 2011. The noise seemed to lessen for awhile and then came back.

My dealer mentioned the cause may be brake dust. I know when I have washed the spyder with a hose and have sprayed the pads, especially the back ones, the noise has lessened.

I'm wondering if it is the rear brakes and spraying the brakes with water is all that can be done.

Ro,n my Spyder still does it pushing it out of my garage as well after switching to GEN 3. Disk brake quite helped for awhile, but has since returned. Whats weird is, it does not do it driving in reverse.

It is a heck of alot better with gen 3 pads than my original 08 pads. Those things sucked. Everytime I hit the brakes coming to a stop sign, those things would squeal something wicked and was quite embaressing. I can live with the noise pushing it out of my garage.

Yoour pads might be sticking a bit on those pins that allow them to move toward and away from the disc...
They'll need a bit of the proper lubricant (applied sparingly!!)

SQUEEL

IMHO, I believe part of the reason is that as the pads wear down the initial bevel they put on the edges ( which is less on the rear edge to begin with) becomes less to the point of non-exsistance. This may be the cause of most of the squeel..Also the pad material is a factor...the EBC pads BAJARON sells I hear are much quieter.......Mike....
