RT-S PE#0180
I might just be clear out in left feild but something concerning the reported air bag problems just caught my attention. A couple of months ago, when replacing the rear tire on my RT-S, I experienced a problem with my air bag. After I had finished the replacement of the rear tire, I took the Rt for a test ride and found the ride to be very harsh. After further examination, I found the bracket on the left side on the RT that supports the ride height sensor, to be bent down. This caused the Rt to over inflate the air bag in an effort to acheive the propper ride height. Because the bracket was bent enough, the RT was not able to acheive the propper height and the air bag was pressurized to max. I think, if left alone, this would of resulted in a bag rupture. I corrected my problem by mearly bending the bracket back to it's normal position. Like I said, this may be way out in left feild but it's worth checking. I'm writting this because of all the problems Dwight has experienced with his and knowing that he has even more miles on his than I do on mine (12.5K), I'm sure his rear tire has been changed at least once. My bracket bent when I jacked up the rear of my RT with the shock absorber disconnected. The downward force applied due to the weight of the rear being unsupported, pulled the bracket down. Dummy me, I now know to disconnect the link arm on the ride height sensor prior to doing this next time.
