I used to use old military surplus throat mikes. I found them very uncomfortable to use. Even with improvements, it would take a lot to get me to go that route again. A good motorcycle comm system with top-notch noise cancelling circuitry seems like a better deal, since it gets the mike away from the throat and in front of your lips. I have no noise or wind problems with the Starcom1...even with an open shield. That is with a full-face helmet, though. A shorty or open-face could pose more problems. Nice to have choices like this, however. We each have our own needs and preferences.
