There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RE Custom Dynamics tail light strobe assembly ......

Today I took on the job of installing the Can Am Spyder RT GEN2 Magic Brake Light Flasher. http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_brake_light_flasher.htm
The install was not quite as easy as described in the instructions. Mine is a 2011 and maybe the instructions were written for 2010. The instructions say all that is needed to remove is one body panel. Well on the 2011, the wires from the taillights are far to short and deep down that they cannot be gotten to to complete the wiring install. I had to drop the lower fender panel (which is shown in the instruction photo, but not mentioned!) and then remove the rear tail light assemblies to complete the wiring. I was able to figure it out and I love the device but I feel the instructions should show what is actually needed -- so folks can decide if they want them bad
enough to take on the install. Now don't get me wrong, none of this is difficult ..

Good product and good site vendor but a bit misleading on the instructions.

Thanks for the info!
We found that when we were hooking up our TricLEDS 3rd & 4th brakelights on our 201 model; there was barely enough wiring harness to work with. Plugging everything together down in the bowels of the Beast was by far the touchest chore.

Sorry to hear you had trouble with your install, maybe a past dealer tech had tucked your wires in tight. :dontknow:

Granted it's hard to do, but with just the top half of the rear off you can get a coat hanger and pull the tail light wires up.

I have 2012 limited, I had both my rear panels off anyway, had the bottom half color matched to lava bronze. While the rear was off I fitted the same unit, I didn't have to take the tail light off though. I drilled a hole through the trunk so i could mount the control unit where I could get to it to change. From there it was an easy reach to the taillight plugs.

Wired the tricled 3rd and 4th brake light at the same time while I had the rear off. I'm a novice with this type of install but I would say you could do it within an hour to hut and half.

The inside end of the plug had only a few inches and it definitely was not long enough to get at. A coat wire would have helped but still wouldn't have gotten to it!

I ordered one of these after seeing it in action in Daytona on another spyder. Just installed it today and yes it is a lot easier to go ahead and pull the RT rear light enclosures to get easy access to the wiring.

Overall it is about the easiest lighting mod I have done so far and is very effective in improving brake light visibility.

I installed the same unit along with a quad light lic plate braket, the rear brightsides. I had to do the same thing but my instruction sheet called for that. I had the whole rear apart anyhow to also do a trailer lighting wiring. It can be tight yes, but it sure is worth it. In fact on the first morning I rode in the dark I got pulled over because a cop wanted to know what I installed to make my a$$ end so viasable. LOL

Did you thank him for noticing?
You can always tell them that you did it so that they wouldn't have to fill out all of that irksome paperwork after meeting you at an accident; the lights will help to make sure that it never happens! :2thumbs:

The GEN2 Kit offers a bunch of optional flash patterns. Which one were you using ?

I am not sure what its called or #. I know it strobes for about 4 sec and then goes solid. I personally think most of the others would be quite irritating to the person behind you.

The vendor's website gives a disclaimer that it may NOT be street legal in all states. Is it more NON-Street Legal than legal?

I saw a BMW cycle with something like this last weekend and it is a eye catcher for sure----;)

Tail Strobe Light

I would like to know what location on the back of the bike you mounted the strobe light?:doorag:

The model I bought does not have any other lighting. It simply plugs int existing wiring and the lights that strobe are your existing OEM rear lights. great mod!

I installed mine Wednesday night after I got off work. Had the same problem that you had, but was able to get everything done without removing the lights. I used 2 pair of long needle nose pliers and and a long screwdriver was able to reach and connect everything.

Hopefully some of these people that don't pay much attention will be able to see me when I'm stopping. I think it's a mod that's well worth the money.

I've had nothing but problems with my lights from Custom Dynamics! First several of the lights on the strips didn't work, the blinkers wouldn't work now there is condensation (moisture) in the back brake light. Love the look just not
satisfied at all
