• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rattling drving me crazy

I have a had a rattling coming from the rear...near my sport rack and backrest. I've probably have had it since the sport rack was installed Mar 09 at the dealer, but I've never noticed it until I bought a shorty helmet this year. I don't notice this rattling all the time, just over good bumps in the road.

Well I think I found what was rattling. I'm in the middle of changing seats out 3 swap outs in a week (that's another story). It is a clip nut the goes the lower cover of the sport rack. Since I didn't install the rack. I looked up the BRP install instructions and could not find this part even listed. Thanks to mxz600 thread on install. I'm assuming BRP issued an update on the install about using the clip nut. When I remove the sport rack today this clip nut rattles like crazy. I know the bolt is not in, but it sounded just like that crazy rattle that been so annoying to me. My solution was a couple of dabs of clear silicone. When I get another ryde in. I'll let you know if this is the culprit (I think) Here's a pic.

I had a rattle in the back rest, found that the rubber bumpers in the sport rack that the back rest sets on was not touching , glued a small rubber bumper to the back rest plate and took care of problem,:2thumbs:

That is the nut for the rear screw of the seven that support the inner guard. I have the Givi bags fitted to my :spyder2:, and that nut is used to support the rack as well as the guard. It is a pain to get the screw to start, so it might have been tossed away when your :spyder2: was pre-delivered, leaving the nut free to rattle.

Cheers;

Pogo.

I had the same problem and I wrapped a little electrical tape around the latch pin and it went away!!
My wife tells everyone that if her husband can't fix it with duct tape or bungee cords then he can't fix it.After 29 years she still hasn't figured me out.:thumbup:

This may sound stupid, or obvious.
When I took off the backrest for a couple of days, at first I put back on the rack and got the same sound you are talking about. It was when I asked another guy to listen,, without a helmet, I realised it was the rack itself. I had not pushed in the red button under the seat properly. Try that.
Or maybe the cable is loose.

Capt John why would the clip rattle if it has a screw in it.I have sport rack and a screw goes in that clip.Should be tight. :dontknow:

It could be the bolt was just loose enough when I hit a good bump it would rattle. I noticed the clip nut doesn't fit tight at all on the rack when I had it apart.

I've checked that a couple of times. I've reached around at stop lights and gave it a good shake just to see if the backrest was loose.
