• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person; my knuckles don't drag the ground when I walk and I breath through my nose. BUT, can someone please tell me how the @@##%* heck we can access the coolant reserve tank, and remove the cap as well as getting the cap back on without: a) tearing the :cus::cus: out of our hands, and b) without removing the upper right side tupperware? I love my 2010 RT-Skoot3r has been totally reliable- but this part of my summer desert pre-ride just plain drives me :banghead:ing NUTS!

Thank you, I feel much better now,

I will admit it is a struggle!
I about gave up to put the cap back on and was going to remove the Tupperware when I tried again and got it.
You have to push down really hard to get the tangs on the cap to catch.

patience_grasshopper.jpg This is a task that's best-handled by someone with smaller, daintier hands... :D

...that are as tough as nails, and can crush a softball!

it is a little tough

I took mine off to check the level and thought I had messed up. Yep, it is hard to put back but you'll get it. requires a hard push down and twist.

please tell us how you really feel, j/k it is a pain in the azz getting your hand at the right angle is the problem, good luck

Word of caution..!!

that cap has two detents. Make sure you get it all the way to the second one. You will have leakage of coolant otherwise...not easy thats why I got an RS..:roflblack:

It is a PAIN to say the least. Be VERY sure you get the cap back on correctly or you'll have coolant all over the place!

Just one of life's many trials. This one too will pass.... Good Luck!

RIDGECREST CALIF I WAS STATIOND THERE IN 1956 CHINA LAKE NAVIL AVATION TEST STATION,I WAS A CRASH CREW MEMBER,AND YES I PUT OUT A FEW FIRES OF AIRCRAFT CRASHING.THEY TESTED THE SIDWINDER MISSEL,AND SHOT DOWEN DRONES.AND YES THAT FILL CAP IS THE ****S.:chat:

Its not necessary to remove the cap to check coolant level. Shine a flashlight up through the right side shock well and peer through the right side access panel (like the oil check panel on the left). You can see the level in the bottle and the hot and cold full lines. At least this works on my 2013. You can also see the level via the fill cap access panel but not the lines.

If you haven't lost any coolant, why do you need to top it out. I have been riding for 48,000 miles on my RT and have never opened the coolant.

This is a good point.:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Sometimes the paranoids and the "what ifs" really get to me (a little OCD?). Could be from riding for years in the desert, not wanting to take a chance in 102/105 degree temps, I don't know...

It's even harder when you have arthritis in your extra large hands.

Do you change it per the service manual?
