• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random thought for the day

What a crappy thing for mothers to do - put the onus on the dad for punishing the kid for something the mother couldn't handle on her own (and presents to the dad in a biased way). Dads want to have their own way of relating to their kids.

Sorry, this pushed some buttons for me.
General experience & observation:
The blame shuffles as needed however daddy’s girl is just that. Till the blatant episodes develop then it’s just like your momma, grands might stir the pot with bribery & favorites.

And...

Just wait till your father gets home!
Don't get smart with me, young man!
I smack each one of you, I'll get the right one then!
If they take you away in the dark, they'll bring you back in the daylight!
Don't forget to wash behind your ears!
Turn off the lights when you leave the room, why don't you?
Where are we going? There and back to see how far it is!
Don't touch that, you don't know where it's been!
I'll make you laugh out the other side of your face in a minute!
Go on, do that again and I'll show you what happens!

I had a difficult childhood.

I wonder just how many families conformed to the sit-com norms of the '60s? Probably not many. But, everyone had to pretend that 'Father knows best' because that is what was expected of them... and they passed it down to their sons, etc. We're only just now starting to see 'real' people and 'real' families in movies and tv series and I must say, it's refreshing.

Sorry, I can’t agree - a tv family is just that - produced, edited, censored, and paid, even Jerry Springer.

Growing up in Britain, the 60’s and 70’s were a weird time for television. There was some excellent comedy usually based on the Second World War which was a huge part of life’s experience for British adults, or rather sexist and racist themes as some in society pushed back against the change that was occurring in British everyday life..

American television hadn’t yet taken hold in terms of comedy at least. British comedy was a little more raw and sometimes biting and was difficult to find the humor in American TV comedy shows. Action shows based upon cop dramas and the excitement of Hollywood in that genre helped Brits escape the depression of post war Britain, but the comedy didn’t translate so much as people couldn’t equate to supposed American family life.
