Not far from the truth. Hwy 385 running through the Black Hills is a three year project.

The hwy 80/395 interchange through the heart of Reno was labeled as a 10-year project (yes, they said TEN years) It's been at least 3 years so far with no end in sight.
Just so glad I don't have to drive it each day. It's always a big traffic jam, with regular accidents.
Just seeing this now in November 2024... but it reminds me of I75/I85/I285 Interstate highways in Atlanta GA - Started with Improvements to I75 and I85 ahead of the 1996 Olympic Games. That really was just making 4 lanes from 3 (they just restriped). Then GADOT started the I285 full ring road "improvement" about 1 year later, 1997 IIRC. It is STILL going on nearly 27 years later!
GADOT has to go back and "fix" parts that were laid down years ago because of the damage from wall to wall 18-wheeler traffic most of the day. There are parts where the pavement is finished, but huge concrete barriers block traffic lanes and shoulders, leaving no place to go if accidents happen in front of you. There is a constant barrage of orange signs stating lanes are closed due to road work. The electronic signs regulating traffic onto and off the highways are many times wrong or just blinking; and the lanes for express vehicles end without warning in some places, leaving you nowhere to go...
And to add insult to injury:
1. They made the lanes narrower (might be 10-11 ft) now... again; and
2. They make constant re-striping of lanes a regular thing... No, they don't use proper reflective white paint, or it has worn off due to the massive amount of traffic... FTL
Oh, and if your GPS says 30 mins, you'd better add another 60 min, as you aren't gonna make it due to the huge amount of traffic!
If you drive to Atlanta, DO NOT use your Spyder on the Interstates, not unless your life isn't worth staying alive!
