There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Quieter Muffler

Deb - the Hindle probably needs to be repacked. However, they sure didn't make it easy to repack it with the rivets.

If you decide to repack, there is stainless steel wool/packing available at least on eBay. Bought some last year to repack the SuperTrapps. Works well and lasts a long time!

There're also ceramic "blankets" available for repacking... but I preferred the stainless.

Best of luck.

The stainless scrubber...

gave it a little back pressure and it also changed the tone of the muffler a weeee bit. The only reason I got rid of it was because it was still to loud for my antique ears. /Ken krb1945

I hear if you soak your stock muffler in Slim-Fast for a couple of months, it looks just like the Hindle. :joke:

:roflblack: that was funny! I still have my stock too - I refuse to put it back on compared to all the other pipes out there. Plus it is really heavy too.

Okay everyone, here is a new twist on an old question. I would love to have a quieter muffler but I hate the look of the stock muffler. After my ride home with pipes that would make a Harley blush, I decided I would like to tone it down. By the way, no more loud or heat and all was covered under warranty. :2thumbs: So back to my question, I would like to know if anyone knows of aftermarket pipes about the same as the stock sound but not so darned ugly. Baja Ron suggested the Yoshi with the cone, said he believes it is quieter than the Hindle and he likes it. So I am open to your suggestions. Thanks

Deb- Many people are in the same boat as you, myself included. My personal favorite is the Yamaha Warrior Pipe mod using a 90 degree from where ever you source it. The Warrior Stock pipe can be found very very inexpensively , and it provides a nice deeper tone than stock , looks way better (IMO) . Lamont was the first to do this mod along time ago-

Thanks for the tip Brad but that sounds louder than the Hindle I have now. I am actually trying to go as quiet as the stock without the ugly stock. Of course it is very hard to tell on the video itself. I need to hear one in person and compare side by side with my Hindle.

Deb- Its very very close to stock , way quieter than the Hindle....just not as "airy" sounding as stock.....maybe 5% louder than stock if anything, but on a decible meter its very very close to stock. Side by side with Hindle there is no comparison. Its is not even in the same league, its THAT quiet. I removed my Hindle and went to this setup and its so much quieter. Here is the exhaust on a stock warrior V twin in a closed garage to give you an idea of how quiet it is. Also the Warrior is almost 1700cc.

I agree... had both among others. Warrior is good on the ears!

Thanks Brad, that is good to know. I will be looking into this I believe.
By the way, I like this avatar so much better.

Thanks also for the confirmation on this pipe. Now to do some shopping for prices and such.

Okay Guys, I can find the pipe for about $200. What all do I need to put it on a spyder?

I thought I read in a thread where someone stuffed a stainless steel pot scrubber in thier Hindle to tone it down.

Yeah...I was riding behind the guy with the stuffed Brillo pad in the rain and I got shot a faceshield full of steel wool and soap bubbles...:joke:

Thanks for the offer but I still have my stock muffler sitting around, I just think it is UGLY!! and don't want to put it back if I don't have to.

OK, to be clear, Deb:

I said I would PAINT "YOSHI" ON IT!!!

(That will be like putting lipstick on a pig, eh??)

Upon further review and looking over the photos, I don't really like the look of the Warrior pipe much more than the stock. It is really big. I guess I have to make a basic decision, keep my Hindle (probably what I will do) or get the heat shield for the stock to make it look a little better and go back to that. That is probably my least expensive option. I need to see a photo of the spyder with the stock pipe and the heat shields that Can-Am put out to cover the burn spots. Does anyone have that? Thanks in advance.

Seriously, Deb?!

I must've missed that memo from Valcourt. I don't remember BRP coming out with that--was it an "accessory" to purchase (how much?), a production update on newer models, or a warranty recall fix? :dontknow:

I'd like to see that, too...

Muffler deflector kit (part #219 800 076). :doorag:

I don't much like the look of the Warrior pipe any more either but I do like the look of the RT pipe. Maybe you can find someone who bought the TB pipe for their RT and get their stock pipe and make it work, that is if you like it. :dontknow:
