QUIET BRAKES

so...this topic has come up many times ... i had update done on brakes and because i had over 6000 miles on spyder BRP would cover them ...no big deal ... but they squeeked more after than they did before i ask mechanic that did the job if he used brake quiet on pads he said no ...so rather than dropping bike off i did it myself and i must say it had to be easiest brake job i've ever done ... it seemed after i had brakes done the rear pad were sticking slightly ... i could hear them if i rolled bike backwards by hand ... so i put caliper lube in the bolt that the rear pads slide on and brake quiet on back of pads ...been 3 days and no more squeek or sticking .... also put brake quiet on back of front pads worked like a charm.... i'm sure over time it might start again but so far so good ...
be careful not to brake clips that hold front pads in calipers .. i didnt but i could see if forced you could...

Someone on the other - oh never mind - is touting this as a possible solution:

I finally found something that works - CRC De-squeak (technician grade). http://www.crcind.com.au/catalogue.nsf/web...ak?openDocument

Spray it - CAREFULLY - on the rotors.

Available at AutoZone for $10.00

Mine are intermittant but it if gets much worse will do one of these things.

I prefer the lube on any movement points (in this case the bolts) and the Disk Brake Quiet (I use CRC) on the backs of the pads. The De-Squeak does work for a while, though, and does not require dismantling the brakes. I have had about as good of luck with just cleaning the rotors with CRC Brake-Kleen, though.

So far the best solution I have found for the brake squeeeeeek! has been to haul a Bushteck trailer. As long as the trailer is behind me , NO BRAKE SQUEEK! Take off the trailer, drive 10 miles or so, the brakes start to lightly squeek. The longer I roll without the trailer the worse it gets UNLESS I do some panic stop type braking! Do that and the noise goes away (for a while).

Conclusion: Brake pads are not being "cleaned" during normal braking at weight of Spyder and me, but are at weight of Spyder, me & Bushteck.
