There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Quick mileage update...

I had posted when I first got my bike that I was getting around 26 mpg. I just had the bike serviced this weekend...my dealership is about 75 miles away, so it's a nice long ride back and forth to assess mileage.

How about 5.0 gallons and 155 miles?...translating to 31 mpg. This is quite an improvement...for those out there getting crummy mileage, give it some time as it should get better.

As the engine breaks in and you get more proficient at changing gears (I have a manual transmission), the mileage will go up quite a bit.

Oh, I use the recommended 87...never saw a difference with premium and let's not rehash that pointless argument....fact is that higher octane does NOT improve mileage...this can be read all through the internet and beyond!

:congrats: on the better milage.

Curious if anyone else here has seen the same results as me. Running at 5500-6500 RPMS tends to give me about 4-5mpg(37mpg) more than running 3500-4500 RPMS (32mpg)

Just did my first mileage check over the weekend, 34mpg, with a SE5. Its now at 500 miles, hoping for better mileage as it gets more broken in.

have been averaging 31-32 mpg but Saturday did an extended ryde and 123 miles - 3.2 gals 38 mpg.

My SE5------------

---------------on the last check with 1,400 miles got 28 mph------my friend with a clutch got 32----------these are in town and around the hills riding-------my Suzuki Burgman 650 gets 45 in town and 50 on the highway----These are great automatic scooters----on my trip up the Cal coast, I traveled at 75-80 mph-----the only negative is that the suspension is only half as good as the Spyder......can't wait for this rainy weather to end so I can take the Spyder up Hwy 1------SSSS

Well I've averaged 30 - 31 mpg for the entire 10,000 miles I've put on mine so I don't harbor any hopes of seeing a drastic improvement anytime soon. I have managed to get as high as 38 mpg's but that was traveling much to slow for my taste so that won't be happening again.

If you really want a head trip compare your odometer against a gps trip data and you'll see that you're getting less mpg's than you think because of the percentage that the odometer is off.

We get between 30 - 33 when riding two up. When it's just me, I get about closer to between 36 - 38. Mixed driving, mostly freeway, some stop and go.

I decided this morning to see what kind of mileage I am getting. (Never bothered before, having too much fun to care) I jotted down the mileage when I left home this morning, got gas and again noted mileage. Had a couple errands to run so took the Spyder then took off to check the water levels at the dam at Lake Berryessa. Got home and still have over a half a tank of gas (according to the gauge) and 111.5 miles on this tank of gas. I have the day off again tomorrow so we'll see how mileage is doing tomorrow when I run out the tank.

If you don't want to rehash it, why such a need to make your point?:dontknow: If you're happy with 87-good for you. Others might like something else, that's their choice. Glad your mileage improved, I get 35 on 93 octane......

You're right...it's your money to waste...

Affirmative on the RPM observation. I really haven't had it down to the 3500 range to cruise, but I have been getting 35 - 40 mpg and runn around 6,000 - 7,000 rpm pretty consistantly. I have the SE5 (LOVE it btw)

Gas Mileage

If your bike doesn't require premium gas, don't waste your money on it. Now ethanol content can affect gas mileage since the alchohol has less BTU than gasoline. The higher the ethanol content, the lower your mpg should be. If your vehicle isn't made for E-85, you shouldn't be using it. I think there is a risk of preigniton (spark knock) if you do.

I run my Spyder on diesel. It makes me feel like I'm jet propelled seeing all the smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Should I use 93 octane diesel or is cooking oil grade good enough?
