There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For us it was simple. I had planned on a fully loaded GW for my early retirement toy, but I just got tired of fighting 800+ LB. bikes when it came to deer and people that 'didn't see me'. The Spyder is 6' across at the front and lit up like a Christmas tree. Guess what? I'm very visible in all lighting situations. Don't like gravel, newly etched concrete for resurfacing, or wet roads? Not a problem on 3 wheels with ABS. I love the new experience.

Well, I didn't read all the postings so I wouldn't get too many reasons to influence my post.
I started riding in 1966 on a Honda 305 Super Hawk. I progressed through the years to bigger and heavier bikes. I have ridden over 500,000 miles through many parts of the United States. I have always admired anyone riding bikes because I love doing so...whether they be on HD, BMW, Honda, etc. I may have, but can't recall questioning someone's ride and trying to place them on a physically able or disabled list. I figured that one will ride and pay for the ride of his choice or affordability. I am not disabled, I still work 40 hours a week at 68 years old and I think your question, though "reasonable" to you is offensive to me. If you want to ride, do so as long as you can. Ride what you want without question, just don't question someone else's ride.

My FIRST Ryde: 2008 SE5 Bought 3/11
I have never ridden a MC and had never seen a :spyder2:. Shortly after joining this site, I purchased my beautiful (see pic in profile) HOT RED with 1500 miles and too many mods to list from a member here living in Mobile, AL. I pulled a borrowed 16' trailer, parked a block away from the dealership, where seller and I agreed to meet. We made a deal, and back home I had to have someone back her off the trailer for me. I am 68 years old, have put 1400 miles on her, and hope to join a group for some serious ryding.
I am not disabled or impaired. I am a certified scuba diver. Only recently I hung up my rollerblades for good.
HOT RED was a bit of an impulsive purchase. In her I saw potential for hours, days, weeks, and more of fun fun and more fun. Being a novice ryder, I consider her to be safer version of what some call a crotch rocket. She is FAST. Some of her mods are power/speed enhancers.
Every time I stop for gas, someone asks about her. I need to start carrying cards with this web address on them.
The CanAm Spyder is the ultimate in open air ryding fun and I love mine.
In March 2011 a long time mechanic friend in TN advised another good friend to check out the :spyder2: before buying a pink Harley trike. She did not buy the Harley. She came down here from TN for a visit, rode behind me on HOT RED, and was bitten. I never exceeded 30 MPH riding around the neighborhood. My mechanic friend recommended this site as the ultimate site for excellent information and a place where people advertised their :spyder2:s 4-SALE.

When I first looked at the post, I said its troll time again. If this was the intention to stir up a hornets nest, it did not work. It is intersting to see that the members here actually tried to answer the OP's questions in a respectful manner. I am guessing that were the same type of post made on the HD site asking them to "defend" thier rides--that post would get a lot of unprintable responses.
I am one of that group that has ridden mostly everything in the past 48 years. Over 35 assorted bikes and 4 different :spyder2:.s. At first, I liked the :ani29: because it was new and innovative. My ride before the first :spyder2:--a 2000 CC Kawasaki Vulcan--the biggest twin cylinder made at that time. Catch me if you can :roflblack::roflblack:. Now I am off two wheelers because of medical issues--but I can still ride and have fun.
I note that the OP has not come back--so it will be interesting to see the outcome here.

Why question at all? Maybe people just LIKE it? It's opened many opportunities to women who may never thought to have a "real" motorcycle before now due to issues of stature and strength.Some males maybe were not brought up around bikes and didn't feel confident enough to handle two wheels, does that make them pansies? I personally am just the passenger. This is our 2nd Spyder as our first had 40,000 miles and we liked the new RTs better. The first model we did a round the country 7.5 week trip at just over 13,000 carefree miles. No complaints.
Ran into quite a few Harley riders during our brief stop in Sturgis on this same trip. Had a few female drivers who asked about the vibrations if any. Older male Harley riders also asked. We could see some wanted to question us, but their macho friends looking on would not permit them; have to save face by all means.
Why not just ride what you wish to ride and not question others? What's the big deal? It's all about the open road, the wind in your face, and the freedom of no car windows closing you in.
By all means stick with your "real" motorcycle, happy trails to you and don't put your nose too high up in the air or you'll catch the bugs.

Ditto for me, except I had traded my last 2 wheeler for a horse awhile back. Now that I can't play with horses anymore, I decided to get this cool contraption and enjoy the wind and smells again.
