• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question re: ultimate seats

We are thinking of getting a new Ultimate seat for our '13 STL SE5. Interested in anyone who would have one for sale but my real question is: With the seat and both backrests, are the gas springs that hold up the seat strong enough to hold the Ultimate seat up while fueling. Some of you must have these seats so you would know.

If the rod is not holding it up, then there is a replacement that you can get that will. If memory serves me correctly I got it for about $20.

The alternative of course is to buy one with a fuel door.

I have 2013, have the gas door. No issue , would be the same if you had a BRP back rest. Eventually they get get weak , just upgrade. I have 60,000+ my butt thanks me for it.

I have the ultimate seat on my RTS and the seat stays up fine for fueling.
My wife and I also love the seat. It's tripled out time between stops.

I have an Ultimate seat and driver backrest on my 2013 STS and it stays tipped up when I'm fueling. It is a very comfortable seat compared to the OEM seat.

Thanks all

I didn't realise a "gas door" was an option. That adds another option to the mix. But now I know a stronger spring rod is available if needed.

As always. This forum comes through. Thanks all.

STS and Ultimate Seat

Yes. You will never know the difference.

I sometimes travel with a bag on the rear of my seat and the seat won't stay up. I just raise the seat and turn the bars all the way to the right and then let the seat rest on the bars. Cheap and easy , like me. :D

What do you mean you understand the fuel door gets hot??? :dontknow:

I don't have a problem with the fuel door getting hot and never noticed it at all .

other people have reported that the fuel door gets hot from the engine and the sun beating down on it

When I am riding I never noticed it even when filling up the bike and opening the door. Never been to hot to the touch.

Never heard this before. Both the wife's bike and mine have the Ultimate seat with the fuel door and neither of us has ever felt any heat.

The door on that seat is metal, not plastic, so for some one that rides in hotter area, it may feel hot to you. It dose get warm under the seats of these bikes, dam I am surprised that the motor don't have more issues than they do with the way they have them wrapped in plastic.
