• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question for those who use Plasti Dip

This is going to be soooo cool! I have an old helmet. I sanded it today with 600 grit. I taped it up, and will inspect my taping job tomorrow. My plan is to put 4 coats of the metallic aluminum on it and 3 coats of glossifier.

Only question I have left: should I sand between coats?

I did not sand at all..and be careful with the glossifier. I think it only recommends up to 2 coats

I think you need to stop thinking of it like regular paint. Think of it more like spray on rubber. The things to be painted do not need to be sanded but has to be clean. Best results come from multiple very thin coats. Do not sand between coats. You can't it's rubber. I you use masking tape it has to be removed right after the last coat is applied.

The reason I like to use Plasti-dip is I have commitment issues and if I don't like or I mess up just peel it off and try again.

This will be good as soon as I can get to it. I had to help a buddy move today. So, tomorrow I'll report back what happened to my "about to be rubberized" helmet!

Plasti Dip

No pictures yet but I Plasti Dipped my handle bars and windshield brackets to get rid of to me ugly the silver-grey look. Remember if you don't like it take it off.

Cognac color

Well since I no longer have my Viper Red Spyder I pealed off the red plasti dip from my helmets. I now have a 2014 in Cognac, so here is the question, Plasti dip makes a Blaze Orange and a Copper Metalizer, do you think I could get the burnt orange look using the blaze orange and then a light coat of the copper metalizer?

All inputs are appreciated

This is a match for " cognac "....see " Deanna777 " dash surround at the bottom of any of Her posts...........VHT paint code # SP 402 Burnt Copper......if you paint on plastic .....you must use a PLASTIC PRIMER first......and for a deep color, 3-4 coats of any clear will work.......Mike

Thanks!

Oh! I wonder if this would work as a clear coat type covering on the front; similar to the "bras" that cars have so that you don't get chips and such in your paint. So many ideas and possibilities.:spyder:

Yes I did the front of my wife's SUV (Equinox) and it worked very well. ASAP I get time I will do the front of the Spyder.
