There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Question for High Spyders

Those of you who hang out above the mile high, any issues in the way the Spyder runs. We plan on trailering the Spyder to visit family in Colorado the end of the month and plan on at least riding up to Estes Park and maybe even higher. I'm thinking at least, arriving on an empty tank so I can fill up with 85 octane at that elevation, also wondering if I should install an 02 modifier before the trip. Thanks in advance.

High Spyder

When my Spyder gets high this is how she reacts.....

1. Her reaction times are much slower.
2. She thinks everything is funny.
3. She thinks the cops are always watching her.
4. She has the munchies.
5. She thinks she is a Smart Car.
6. Her headlights get bloodshot.

:roflblack::joke::roflblack:
Sorry, I could not resist these immature comments !!! :shemademe_smilie:

Went from 150 feet in Cypress to 7-8 thousand feet crossing mountains. Spydee ran like a champ. :2thumbs:

Had a basic Juice Box installed a while ago. Don't know if that made a difference or not.

Thanks Yazz, I doubt I will have a problem, after all I can turn around and coast back down.

I have found that when ryding, if you leave the oxygen based environment of the planet, the :spyder2: tends to starve. But then so do you. So ryde below 15K feet and you should be ok. But if not and you start to get crazy, ryde very fast to the bottom. We never had a problem at high altitudes. Have fun.

We are just coming back from the rockies in Glacier and Yellowstone. Most of our riding was from 6,000' to almost 11,000' and, if there was any difference, it was improved gas mileage! Maybe it was because of the speeds we were running in those places, too, but the Spyder had no trouble pulling any of the grades with plenty to spare. (And we were towing a trailer.) What a great place to visit! :2thumbs:

Thanks, I guess come to think of it the air is thinner at higher altitudes so you would need to be a little leaner so my Spyder may run great.

Ridin' high

Drove my lowlander Spyder (residence in SC) to Seattle and back last year - took a little side trip up Mt. Evans (14,400+) - only possible problem was heating up if you get behind a slowpoke - no juicebox or ignition or mixture mods -- worked great - gotta lotta wild-eyed looks from folks!! Just enjoy!!

I've been pretty high with my Spyder and it reacts pretty much like any fuel injected machine. You lose some power but it isn't anything like a carbureted motorcycle.

I remember going over a high pass in the Rockies on my 750 Honda. In it’s day a very power machine. I literally had to push it in a parking lot and slip the clutch to get it going without stalling it. The Spyder is MUCH better than that.

I live in Colorado. Ride my RT-S and RT-Limited all over the mountains here. Anywhere from 5000ft to 13000ft. Both bikes run great. No MODS, just straight from the factory. I do however run 91 octane as recommended by the book.

rode to the top of pikes peak last year 14000 ,ft this year rode over bear tooth pass dont know how high but it was damn cold up there and spyder ran perfect:2thumbs:

Great advice. I all ways use high octane gas all my cars and bikes. It's always a good thing to run a tank full of high octane once every 1,000 miles, it has more cleaning chemicals to keep the fuel system clean. That's IMHO.
