• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question about wire going to seat

I took off my seat as part of the Corbin Fleetliner bag install and got done yesterday. There is a wire harness that goes into the seat and I could not figure why they would put anything electric in the seat. today I took a short ride into town and did not even bolt the seat down or connect that wire plug. after awhile it started acting up. I filled up and as I started to pull out It died. Later the VSS light came on in the dash saying there was a VSS event. When I got home to park it, it would not shift back into first. I turned it off and restarted it and it shifted fine. I then installed the seat with all the bolts and plugged the wire back in. I then went for a ride. Everything went well and no VSS event.
My question is what is that wire for. Im getting ready to install a Corbin seat. Is it going to be a problem leaving that wire unplugged?

I did call the dealer and the guy I talked to looked it up and saw the wire but it did not tell him what it was for.
 
The only thing I could guess is it may be pre wired for electric seats but they are not functional? OR are there VSS sensors in the seat which I doubt?
 
That is a sensor that tells the computer that there is a passenger or not so it adjusts the ABS and other systems,just move it to your new seat and enjoy!
 
If it's not a heated seat, then it'll be the wire for the 'passenger sensor' that tells the VSS that you've got the weight of a passenger on the back of the seat & adjusts the braking & stability control to react accordingly. :sour:

The Corbin seat will have a facility to accept the sensor that wire plugs in to - I don't think they have an alternative sensor, IIRC you hafta transfer the sensor from the base of your OE seat into the Corbin seat. :thumbup:

Corbin seats are modular. I only ordered the front seat and in place of the rear seat there will be a smuggler trunk. I guess I can remove the sensor and plug it in and tuck it out of the way. I still have the option of getting the rear seat later but have planed to keep it as a solo setup.
 
That's exactly what that wire is for. As you discovered, Nanny gets really upset if she can't talk to that sensor.

Yeah, my mistake - I was thinking 'RT' & single piece seat despite the (shoulda been) obvious 'ST' & modular seat differences!! :opps:

Sounds like I'll have to tear into the OEM seat once I do the changover, figure how it works and plug it in the trunk or somewhere.
 
I know I've seen a tip/trick to use that sensor & defeat it before, When & when I dont know. Corbin should have info & or included a jumper cap to install. Check with them:thumbup:
 
The sensor bolts to the bottom of the seat with 2 m6 T30 bolts. Nothing difficult. Remove the little bolts and take the sensor off the seat. If your not running a rear seat just leave the sensor plugged in and zip tie it somewhere out of the way.

Posts # 4 and #5 are correct. It is the passenger sensor. The braking system operates a bit different if you have a passenger on board.

The sending unit can be put into the Corbin seat. I recommend doing that.
 
Good Plan...

Hook the wires to the sensor and put the sensor under the seat area as you said. If it is hooked up your nanny will be happy. When or if you get the rear seat then it will have a place to hook up the sensor...:thumbup:
 
I took it apart again today to pull the remaining brackets so I can sell my Givi bags. In doing so I took off that sensor switch and zip tied it under the seat frame area. The thought just occurred to me, why not make the switch more accessible so you can have a heavy mode on demand. I am a big man and the button being pushed down may make for a better ride. Next time I get in there I may try to relocate it to where I can switch it off and on to see what difference it will make. Anyone tried this?
