Question about covers while trailering your Spyder and traveling

Just curious does it have to go on backwards to fit on the trailer?

Only reason I ask is with the ATV's we always tried to tow them in the direction they went down the road (trail). Doing 60mph on a trailer or driving down the road doing 60mph is pretty much the same thing that way. And it was designed to do this so water in the switches....windshields breaking off... etc should not be as big an issue? Just a thought........:dontknow:

PS: Beauty trailer by the way, I think they build an awesome line of all aluminum trailers.

I've trailered my RT Ltd from New Jersey to Maggie Valley and back on an open trailer at speeds up to 70 mph with no problem using the Can Am trailering cover. It has a flannel lining and tie down straps to hold it in place. I also have a brand new trailering cover that has never been opened - still in the original plastic that was a gift. I'm thinking about putting it on Ebay but if anyone has any interest in the cover send me a private message. The list price is $219.99 but I'm willing to take best offer plus shipping.

I have had it on both ways and it seems to work better going on rear 1st.

To Cover or Not to Cove

I have been trailering bikes on open trailers for years. As said before, the secret is to minimize the flapping. Flapping will either damage the cover or the bike, or both. "Gesa" makes custom covers that I used on my Road King. (I'm sure they can make them for our Spyders as well). They are pricey, but I found them to be the best. Since they are made of a stretchy material, and literally "Stretch wrap" the vehicle. For all the reasons mentioned, "Inclosed Trailers", have advantages. As long as size, weight, and cost, are not issues. For some, Open trailers are more practical. Bottom line is Open trailers, with the right cover, can work quite well. Stay safe, SpyderMacs

+1 on Geza covers. We towed our sportbikes from CO to CA and back with the Geza covers, not a single scratch. They are made from stretchy lycra type of fabric and not waterproof, but it does keep the road grime off the bike. Unfortunately the point is moot, because I don't see Can Am listed as an option on their site.
