There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. That's how many states we drove through yesterday. :2thumbs: I wish I could have took some more pics but we were on a roll. I'll give you the highlights.

When we left Quebec it was really foggy and hard to see. I would get right up on the lights before I could see if they were green or not. I got to tell you I was sure glad I had my GPS for getting out of there in the fog.

The border crossing was a breeze, no real issues there. Our first fuel stop was in a little town in New Hampshire, that was cool so I called my buddy Jammie to let him know I was in his state.:doorag:

It was a little bit cold and the fuel stop had a Dunkin Donuts right there so I grabbed a couple of donuts and a coffee. While we were there some folks were taking pics of the Spyder. :doorag: I had to take a leak and I saw this sign and thought about my buddy SpyderPops (Harvey) :roflblack:

Once again I was glad I had the GPS to get through New York. This was the first time I had been downtown and it was pretty crazy, upper levels, lower levels and toll roads. I made one wrong turn and wound up in the Bronx. We needed fuel anyway so I pulled over at the first station. That's where the fun started. Ron's two credit cards got shut off and it was taking us way longer than I wanted it to, to get out of there, gangbangers were pulling up asking me all sorts of questions about the Spyder while Ron is just trying to get fuel. I was keeping my cool while they were jacking me up and I told them "you know Snoop Dog has one of these", they said yes they knew and thought it was "Bad Azz". :D I got more thumbs up in New York and New Jersey than any other states.

We finally got fuel and got the heck out of there and it started to rain pretty good so we pulled over on the highway under a bridge. All I had was a rain jacket but Ron suited up. Now at this point I got to pee but I wasn't about to leave my Spyder at that gas station in the Bronx while I was taking a leak, guess I've seen too many movies where the guy goes in a store and comes back out and his car is stripped and sitting on blocks. :yikes:
I wanted to take a leak right there under the bridge but that wasn't cool so I held it till the next stop. We got to a toll entering Pennsylvania and the guy taking the money wanted to talk about the Spyder while we're sitting in line. I was friendly with him but I had to go. Ron was behind me so when I pulled up there was a visitors center right there so I made sure Ron saw me and I pulled into it to take a leak. Well he saw me but looked away again and thought I headed down the road so he took off trying to catch me. This is where everything broke down.

So here's the rules when you're traveling with another person.

  • You never take a turn unless the other guy see's you. Ron did but he had a brainfart or something, I don't know.
  • If you do get separated pull off at the first place you can and note where you are by the off ramp or landmark.
  • Call your buddy and if he doesn't answer leave a voicemail (if you have cell service).
  • If you went too far he can catch up to you, if he went too far you can catch up to him.
  • Do all this before you're 100 miles away :lecturef_smilie::gaah:
Ron didn't call me for over a 100 miles and that really sucked. I had know idea where he was and why he didn't answer the 4 voicemails I left him. Not only that but I got into some of the heaviest rain I had ever been in and had to pull under a bridge and wait it out because there was at least a 1" of standing water on the road and I couldn't see a thing. The bridge was on a narrow road and on a turn so it was the worst place I could have pulled over but my other option wasn't any better. I check the weather on the iphone and could see I could wait it out. I was right in the orange and red zone of the storm. I was glad I was on three wheels and I was thankful I was lit up good with No Magic LED's nojoke

So I get a call from Ron and like I said he's a 100 miles from where we got separated and was on the phone with his credit card company because they shut him off. We met at another fuel station and I gave him a ration for not stopping. He knew he screwed up and apologized. Bottom line is you don't leave the guy you're riding with no matter what. Remember that.:lecturef_smilie:

We did get out of the rain but I was soaked to the bone and it was getting dark and I was cold. We are in Virgina now and have about 350 miles till home. I'll write the rest of the blogs this week. It was a great trip all in all and the Spyder did great. I'm over 46,000 miles now I think and she has treated me well. :doorag:

Very interesting trip back home so far. I hope the rest of it goes much better, and drier, for you today. Ryde safe!

What a write-up, sorry but kind of funny too :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I am pretty sure at the time it wasn't funny :(

I hope the rest of your trip home goes well :2thumbs:

As usual great write up. The Bronx story had me rolling! The Bajaron saga---well what can you say. I nominate him as 1st entry in the "ditch jumping" contest at the BBQ this year.:roflblack: I hear John Cusack is coming and may enter himself.:roflblack::roflblack: Forrest has some stiff competition this year!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Lamonster...does Ron have a CB? hg and I thought cb's would help fix that problem of separation while ride in the big cities. Sometimes the lead guy has to make a turn at the last minute.and the ones following are too close or not paying attention because of all the traffic. Been there done that...

If i had known you were going thru the bronx i would have been happy to meet up with you and ron! You were about 10-15 from the World Trade center and you would have seen some good sights along the way and you would not have gone out of your way because the lincoln tunnel is right their and that puts you right back in to new jersey. This is what i tell people who want to visit the city,"don't be affraid just be aware" I believe you came down 95 and right thru the bronx across the GWB. If you never been on the cross bronx expressway let me tell you it can be pretty nerve racking for a person who has never been to the city but please don't go home thinking bad things about the city you just have to know were to go and not besides most of the tourists stay in manhattan.

My hats off for all you guys that did that kind of mileage for our event.

We run Scala G4 and since having them couldn't ride without them.

Glad you made it ok. W and I run 2-way radios. Great for sudden turns, large road kills, whatever. Gotta figure a way to wire them in, tho - batteries die at the dangedst times nojoke. Here's to smooth run for home.

:agree:And for anybody that Snowmobile's in groups at night, It's mandatory.

Glad you seen some of the City, Believe me most of the people you meet in the BRONX Are just like you and me, they just come from a little different Social and Economic standing. And as far as jacked up cars, that was the Pre.'' Giuliani '' day's.

Lamont, Frogg Toggs, they're cheap and have kept me dry through some very heavy rains.

I hope things go better for you the rest of the trip.

Mike

Hmmm.... doesn't look good for me on this thread. Didn't know it was a hanging offence!

Just to set the record straight, it wasn't 100 miles. I ran it through Google maps and between the Easton Toll Booth and Exit 66 on I-81 it's only 97.5 miles. Knew you'd want that bit of info.

And I didn't have a brain fart. You dumped the tool booth guy and he wasn't going to let me go till he had his answers. The guys in line behind me were starting to yell and honk their horns. I thought maybe they followed us there from the Bronks! The toll booth guy just blew them off, which really cheered them up. And it was my Spyder they were going to run over.

The guy in the front car sounded like Evan! :yikes:

I was under a lot of pressure! (Insert hand wringing Emoticon here).

Besides, I did pull off, called, and waited for you. Just like everything on your 'To Do' list. Just took a little longer than it probably should have.

Nice ride though, if you like rain that simulates a Tsunami.

Great picture of you infront of that brick building...Who took that anyway? :dontknow:
