There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Pushing F3-S SE6

I currently have 2008 RS SM5 and will be getting delivery of an F3-S SE6 soon. So, no experience with SE6

I have read the online owners manual - instructions on pushing it without starting engine doesn't make sense to this old brain.

" To move the vehicle a short distance
without starting the engine:
1. While seated on the vehicle, push
down and hold the brake pedal.
2. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL
(SM6 model).
3. Disengage the parking brake.
4. Dismount on the right side of the vehicle,
keeping your foot on the brake
pedal.
5. Push the vehicle, using the brake as
needed."

So how does one disengage the parking brake (SE6) without starting the engine???

when I'm in the garage, I make sure I put it into neutral before I turn it off so that it's "ready to be pushed" if needed. if you leave it in gear when you turn it off, you have to start it and it will shift into N upon starting. Otherwise, it's in the gear you left it in and you can't push it.

One other difference . . . . . .

. . . . . on the F3 SE6 - you have to have the brake pedal depressed in order to shift out of Reverse or Neutral.

that reminds me!

If you leave it in N (on a flat surface only!) you don't have to push the brake to start it -- if you leave it in gear, you must push the brake to start it.

Mine's not and F3 but I believe the engine & trans are the same as a '14RT and it makes no difference whether or not it's in gear to be pushed. I routinely leave mine in gear in the garage with the parking brake on. If I have to push it to rotate the rear wheel to get to the valve stem I just release the parking brake and push. Has been that way since fresh from the dealer. Without sufficient revs the clutch isn't going to lock up. New F3s are probably a bit tighter than mine with 4K on the clock.

Yup, agreed

That is right. I have to back into my parking spot. When I stop, one up-shift puts you into First - not Neutral like on my GS or ST. I always try an leave it in N, but sometimes, old habits die hard, and I forget to also downshift to N. Of course, I am then mystified why it won't start later when I press the starter. :opps:

I I just went out and tested, JayBros is right, you can push the F3 without the engine running if it is in First or Reverse.

Agree..!!

:agree: nothing like an "M".....:2thumbs: and you can do it on the down hills too...:ohyea::ohyea:

Good to know! Very possible we just got into that habit long ago and never tested it out. Thanks both of you.

I also read in owners manual that if you turn ignition off and parking brake is not on an alarm goes off.

If this is true - then key must be on (in order to release parking brake) and stay on while pushing an F3 SE6.

Did I finally get a simple operation correct??//////

Might actually get my F3 this week.

Yes . . . .

. . . you are correct - if the key is not in the ON position, the alarm will beep ( in Neutral, 1st or Reverse ) when you turn off the Parking Brake and then turn off the key. ( I just went out and tried this to make sure )

So, when you are pushing it, the key will be in the on position and the parking brake will be off. The engine does not have to be running and you can have the bike in either 1st, Reverse or Neutral.

Thank you for clarifying

It looks like all your questions have been answered. :congrats: And my compliments on actually reading the manual.:yes:
