Pull Back Bars, GPS Mount, XM Mount, Cup Holder..........................

I finally received the prototype parts for my new Handle Bar Setup. The first pic shows the blank center plate that re-mounts the ignition switch, covers up the ugliness of the top riser, and creates three mounting points for gizmo mounts and cup holders. The next pics show some of the gizmo mounting options. Remember, one of the primary reasons for this new center plate is to allow the use of different bars with different rise so you guys and gals can choose the bars that suit you best. I will be making some bars for this setup that I like better than what is currently on my Spyder.

I am liking this setup - you gonna make some apes any time soon? Just mini ones is all I'm looking for

The beauty of this setup is that you can run any bars you want!! If you make them any taller than what I am showing, you will need longer cables.

Nice Pics : Great idea,Going to get one.Was checking out that exhaust, what did you use for that ? Regards

Here it is in black with the GPS mounted center and the cup holder on the right. It looks like we are going to be making some changes to re-style the center piece to spruce it up a bit. A little wider base to cover up the bars a bit more, and an inlayed and backlit spyder web in the front, and a more attrictive shape is all in the works...

Here's a question for you Mad Matt. Is there anyway to get a cup holder to attach to the current handlebars? I can't really see how yours is attached to your plate, but I would think it could be done, couldn't it? Thanks in advance for the info. Of course if I had a cup on my Spyder I would need a long straw, I have a full faced helmet and it would be hard to take a drink while I was driving, I'm sure.

If you remove the black plastic ring between the handle bar cover, and the switch housing on the throttle side, this will expose a small section of handle bar. Then you should be able to use one of the available cup holders that will clamp to a 7/8 bar.

Actually Matt, I liked it plain, and in silver. Looks very stock. I know that's not everybodies cup of tea, but it looked classy.

Scotty,

Thanks for the feedback. We will definately make it available without the spyder web. I realize not everybody will want that.

If anybody else hase any input, now is the time!

I'd still perfer the stock center unit - gotta have the PE number on it for me.....

Also don't like the exposed bars.

An adjustable riser block would be a great solution so we can keep our factory look.

As far as a cup-holder goes.... doesn't make much sense to me... I'd use a camel back or similar unit if I want a drink on the road.

I'm sure you get quite a few takers on this mod...... just alters the original look too much for me.

Danimal,

Yup, I understand. I do like the original handlebar cover also. I will probably also make some riser blocks that are easier to install than the BRP riser. Once you go a little more than the BRP riser in height, you will lose the steering lock capability, there are only 2 sets of holes for the lock pin to engage. There is also only so far you can go with this approach and some folks will want more pull back than that.

To anybody.....

I have my Spyder on order, but I want to accumulate items before she arrives. I like the pull-back idea with or without the ignition mount. I'm sure by July, we'll see a nice finished product there. But the handlebars appear to be an ATV stock item. Does anybody know the style/part number for the bars? Also, were the bars mounted on the BRP riser block?

Thanks

John

Getting ready to test a Spyder and was wondering about sound system that could be put on the bike?
Also has anyone thought about a CB unit for the bike? Ya I know buy a Venture, it has it all, but I now
need three wheels and not really interested in the traditional trike.
