• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Puff of smoke

Today while riding my spyder, I started to turn on Rte 81 PA north and downshifted to fourth. When I got on the gas,:helpsmilie: a puff of smoke came fromthe front of the spyder by the handlebars. Rode for quite a while and the puff of smoke came again:gaah: but not very heavy. No lights came on the dash. It ran Okay after that. Any ideas what caused this? 09 SM5. 4200 miles on spyder.
Thanks for any help you can give me on this matter.

Probably oil leaking from the airbox...that is the usual symptom, but you had better pull the Tupperware and check thorougly, to make sure.

Hello. I have had this happen to me on my wife's 2009 SM5 a few time. I took all the covers off and checked the breather box. Only thing I found was a little oil in the box. Seems to me that a very small amount of oil gets up neat the throttle body and on occasion it burps and makes a little smoke. I have found nothing to worry about. My 2010 SE5 hasn't done it yet but Im sure it will. Not scared. Just ryde.

:agree: Absolutely check it out - remove the panels and look for things out of place, oil drips on/around the fan and the radiator and anywhere else. Could be something serious like burnt wires or something, to something like just blow-by oil from the airbox dripping on a hot radiator. In any case, check it out, get in the airbox, clean it and keep looking until you found the root.

Let us know how you make out.

;) No panels need be removed for this check,
Right side panel put your hand up just behind the radiator and feel the bottom of the air box, if it's wet with oil it's oil blow bye.
Very simple fix if it is
