• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Proper tie down method

I just transported my yesterday, about a 50 mile trip. My trailer had stake pockets so it was a bit less convienent but it worked great in the end. I used 2 ratchet straps and 2 friction straps as followes:
1 I placed a clean towel in the wheel where the ratchet strap passed through to the forward stake pockets (this provided forward pull).
2 I repeated the process for the back wheel and attached to the back stake pockets there by creating a backward pull.
3 I pulled a friction strap at each front wheel, both sides and looped back to attach both free ends back to the nearest stake pocket providing a lock to keep the bike from moving left or right on the front end.

I tightened the wrachets straps till I seen the tire compress abit, the friction straps were snug but not overly tight so as to not have too much side pull on the rims. Anywhere the straps passed throught the rim I had a clean towel to prevent rash on the rims.

Good luck,

Randy

Just remember to always place the Spyder facing forward on the trailer. Backing it on the trailer and traveling with it that way can cause the windhield to breakoff. The procedure of trailering is listed in your owners mannual. Good luck and ryde safe.

All very good recommendations (through the front wheels, AND facing forward). I have a tow hitch on my :ani29: as well. The hole on the back of the hitch provide excellent places to hook the straps to. I've trailered my '08 on 5 (five) 1,000+ miles roundtrips and many more smaller trips and always tie it down as described. Have never had a problem (Knock on wood!!!) ;)
