• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Problem Shifting 2010 SM5 RT-S

Howdy Everyone,

My 2010 RT-S has been sitting in the garage for a few weeks. This morning I was going to ride it to work. I turned the key on and noticed that it was not in neutral. I was standing on the right side, pulled the clutch in with my left hand, leaned over the bike, and pulled up on the gear shift gently with my right hand. The Spyder acknowledge that it went into neutral (green "N" appeared on screen). I then pressed the Mode button and flipped the kill switch on. After a few seconds, I pressed the starter button and the Spyder started up. I let it run for a few minutes while I moved the trailer and other motorcycle out of the way. When I came back, I got on the Spyder and attempted to put it into Reverse. I squeezed the clutch and noticed that it did not require much effort. While holding the clutch in and pressing the "R" button, I pressed down on the gear shift with my left foot and it would not "click" down. I tried shifting into first. It finally did this, but it became very difficult to move the gear shift.

Any thoughts? There were no leaks detected underneath the Spyder. No noticeable issues during the last ride.

I had similar problems with my RT. They were related to 1)Dirt accumulation in the shift mechanism and 2)Broken reverse actuator(also dirt related). A good cleaning and new actuator solved my problems.

I think I recall putting into first before trying reverse. Notice I said "I think...". I will try again when I get home. My brain may have not been awake yet.

Let's say for the sake of this discussion that it was in first when I tried it. Any other thoughts on what may be wrong?

Checked again and noticed that the clutch is very easy to squeeze. It would appear that there is a loss of hydraulic pressure and the clutch is not fully engaging. I spoke to my dealer and they are coming to pick it up on Monday.
