• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

[TD="colspan: 2"]As the title says, today I started the dipping process and I do feel a little bit nervous. First job was to remove the bottom mud guards on the front wheel. That's held in by by 2x 6mm s/s ?bolts. Now I've sanded some of the rough parts down and taped up the reflectors. Using a grey under coat I'm applying about 5 coats. Says on the can to leave it for 24 hours to harden so I'll up date tomorrow.
So I'm going for the carbon look because if this works i'm going to do the mirrors

Stage 2

:agree: waiting here, patiently...

Ok, so I waited 24 hrs for the primer to dry and then I used wet and dry to smooth the paint off. All looked good even the slightly scuffed left hand side/bottom right corner. I wanted the guards to have a thick gloss look with a hint of carbon so in order to do this I have now put a top coat of black on top, the effect is already looking V-good.

Ok I confess,,,, About 13 years ago I worked for a company called CYTEC, they deal in Carbon Fibre for the Motor sports F1 teams and Airbus as well as the USA military Air force. During that time I gained a lot of knowledge on how carbon should look, so I knew what type of finish was going to make these guards look just like the real thing. You can have lots of finishes, smooth, Glossy, rough and even matt. But the one I love the most is the look that makes you stop and look right into a deep gloss. Some carbons are so obvious you can pass them by but this project was to try and get as close as possible for as cheap as you could. The average guy in the street would pay a fortune for moulded carbon guards and this project cost about $35.
So here they are, as close to the real thing as you can get, or that's my opinion any way:D

Thanks for your comments, Cambello(Jim)
