• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In making preparations for my July 21st trip from Cheyenne, WY to Alaska and return are there any extra/spare parts I should consider taking with me.

Bring a spare TB, COOLANT TANK AND A MAP OF Spyder dealers and tow truck operators.

Sorry for the sarcasm but based upon the reading I have done in this forum, that is what I would want to have availabl

If I can be of any assistance with information for you, do not hesitate to post or send me a PM.

I have a lot of AK information available. Ride information, places to go, places to stay. Tips about the Alcan etc.

Have your bike serviced prior to the trip and you should be good to go. There are three dealers up here if you need anything while you are here. I recommend two of the three--PM me on that.

1) Listen to akspyderman
2) take me with you

I may get as far as Canada next week but I doubt that I will make it to Alaska.

Akspyderman knows is all!

Needed new tires and an oil change when we got to Anchorage. We went to his favorite dealer and they were wonderful people to work with.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm assuming you are going via Alcan Highway opposed to ferry out of Washington or Vancouver?

extra fuel

You may want to consider taking an extra fuel container, in case a gas station is closed it can be a long way to the next station in Canada and Alaska. If your rear tire has many miles on it you may want to call the dealer two days ahead and have them order a replacement. Had my 08 GS serviced in Fairbanks and they are good people.

I did that ride in 2008 with the ferry to Prince Rupert then rode to Vancouver and back to the midwest. It was a get trip. I may have to repeat it some time.
