• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

prepaid maintenance plan

Has anyone purchased a prepaid maintenance plan? I did and think there's going to be a problem....!!!! I'm in my 2nd year of owning a Spyder and the Maintenance Plan($1,199) includes: 6 services in 3 years. I recently brought it in for some warranty issues(took 3 weeks to do) and told them while it was there to do the 2 year service that is specified in the manual. It is for 12,000miles OR 2 years. I did not have 12,000 miles but was going into(technically about 4 weeks) the 2nd year. I noticed at home when reviewing the work order that the only parts that was listed was for the oil change and the charge for labor. For the 2 year service there are about 6-7 things to be changed parts wise not including the parts for the oil change. The Servie Manager said that their Maintence Plan price goes by the mileage and not by the time period...I told him that I was never told that when I purchased it and for him to find out where this is written with my signature. That facts are if I paid for a maintenance service to be done it should be done according to the BRP'ss specs as in the Manual and the Manual states mileage OR YEARS. Also listed on the workorder that the 2 year service was done(but parts not changed). What's your thoughts? Manager is going to get with me on this.....

UPdate: Just found my contract and DOES say the maintenance will be performed at the time/mileage intervals following the manufacturer's manitenance schedule... Called back the dealer but he still did not have time to find my contract but told him he was wrong when he said it only went by the mileage. He didn't seem too happy but he still wanted to find the contract for himself. I was pretty upset with his attitude about this matter and told him he should really be up to date on these issues and KNOW the facts before. He did not even offer an appology and said he will get back with me when he finds my contract. Wondering how many other people they ripped off!!!!

One thing for sure. You don't want the lawyers to get involved. You'll really pay out the whaaaazooo then. Trust me on that one.

I bought a maintenance plan with mine. It's strictly the dealer's plan and it covers all scheduled service work for 3 years. I've had the Spyder since April and I just took it in today for the 6000 mile service. I don't anticipate any problems but, unless something serious happens, I think I'll have enough mileage not to have to worry about whether they will do the service based on time rather than mileage. So far they have been outstanding in getting it in for service whenever I've asked and in getting the work done in less than a day.

I got a service plan at my dealer that coverd unlimited services for the first year. And I used it for the 600, 3000, 6000, and when the DPS failed.

My years is up and I needed to get the 9000 mile service done, so I took :f_spider: to a highly recommend shop close by.

The new shop went over my :f_spider: top to bottom and found that some things had been put together wrong, and that not all the updates had been done or done wrong.

My GPS was the original, which really made me mad since the dealer said that it was changed out when they had to do the DPS oveerhaul.

They never rotated tires like i asked them to.

For what I paid for the service contract I could have put on the BRP bags and still had money left over for the services to be done by the new shop.

It could be worse, as I know people who bought the service agreement from the dealer I purchased my Spyder from. That dealership closed 4 months later, and all of the folks with the pre-paid service contracts were more or less left out in the cold.

That's why I wouldn't buy any extended warranty or maintenance contract unless it was the official one offered by the manufacturer (BRP).

I went with the BEST just to cover anything major during the first 5 years.

Caveat Emptor!
