• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Poor Service Poor CanAm response

I have been having a problem with my transmission for nearly 8 weeks. I have had my Spyder at three different dealers in the area to try and get it fixed. The first dealer said they couldn't get to it. The second waited 4 weeks for a lift before they looked at the rear wheel, claimed the first shop had done it wrong and that I would have to pay. It went back to the first shop, they redid the work, but refused to look at the transmission. So, off to the third shop. Where it has sat. They claim CanAm wants them to look at all the previous warranty work before they will look at the transmission because it is a big job. Regardless, my 2008 SE5 with 24000 miles has been non-operational for 8 weeks because it's too big a job? Anyone know how to light a fire under CanAm?

Here is a chance to try out the new support link. Let the rest of us know if it works or not.

NEW E-MAIL CUSTOMER SUPPORT CONTACT FOR SPYDER OWNERS

BRP is proud to announce a new Customer Service representative dedicated to the Spyder owner Community. We recognize that our first Spyder owners are important ambassadors and deserve quality service. Therefore, Carlo will be assisting Spyder owners through a dedicated E-Mail address [email protected] . Carlo is an avid motorcyclist and Spyder Ryder and has been with BRP as a member of the Customer Assistance Centre since 2000. Carlo is fluent in English, French and Italian and has extensive experience in powersports and assisting BRP product owners around the world.

Carlo will also be monitoring the various Spyder websites and forums to best identify key questions, trends and comments from Spyder owners. He will then respond to owners directly to ensure they have the most recent information. Please note that [email protected] contact method is exclusive to Spyder owners. Once contacted through E-Mail, Carlo will coordinate the follow-up with owners through E-Mail or by phone in an efficient and timely manner. To assist in the process, we invite owners to identify their VIN (vehicle identification number) when E-Mailing Carlo.

In summary, here are the contact options:

[email protected]
Owners-only customer support resource designed to provide quick, expert responses to product-related or service questions.

[email protected]
Open to existing owners or Spyder enthusiasts for general product information, Web site information, information requests, local or corporate events and Web site support.

715-848-4957 OR 819-566-3366 : Open to everyone for general questions/requests.

Definitely time to get Carlo involved with this issue. I wish you the best in getting some type of resolution sooner, rather than later.

I don't know about anyone else, but it seems to me that Carlo could use some help. As the Spyder population grows one man will definitely not be enough to handle the load.

Contact sent

I have sent a contact and information request to the email address. I will let anyone interested know what I learn.

That is just wrong assuming dealer is being truthful with you.
CanAm should have all warranty work that has been performed on your Spyder in their comp. system...

There is LOTS of experts on this site, possible if you explain a bit what you mean by having "transmission problems" someone here could possible steer you in a direction to go.. Maybe someone here has had the same problem,, just a thought cause you really didn't state what the transmission is doing...

It sounds like you are getting the run-around from the dealers. Time for BRP to step in and perhaps time for some free advertising for the dealers who are giving you the bad time.

Eight weeks of playing musical dealers is just plain wrong. What is wrong with these people?

Would you accept this treatment if you brought your car in for service?

Transmission Problem

Loud rattle whenever I let off the throttle. Worse at lower gears.
Check Transmission Light comes on with frightening regularity. Clears when I get up in speed.
Limp Home mode turns on, I stop, cycle power it clears, continue.

I had it towed the first time this occured. Since that time, they have made me drive it between dealers.

Update: Some people are saying it's the muffler. I don't think it's the muffler. Regardless, Update: No word from Service at BRP dot COM. No word from Carlo. 3rd dealer now says he is too busy and wants Can Am to send a tech to fix it. Crimeny! Jumping Jehosaphat! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Do I go to a fourth dealer?

awful

This is just awful for you. I hope someone steps up to the plate soon. After all this time, i'm not sure I could or would be as calm as you seem to be. :gaah:

Hope its gets fixed soon.

10 weeks, geesh

Still no word from BRP. I have contacted a lawyer. 10 weeks and no one has looked at my machine.

Ken, i don't think anyone can blame you(although i bet some will). BRP NEEDS a wake up call and about 10 more carlos. This is really amazing and hopefully you put a fire under somebody!

Best of luck

john

Ken, I emailed Carlo a couple of weeks ago. It took a little more than a week, but Remy at BRP called me. We have now had 2 very informative conversations about my issues. Carlo is not in the office at present; he is attending the owner's event. I would still advise sending an email. You could try calling BRP at 888-272-9222 to discuss your issue, also.
