• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

PLEASE Don't text and drive

When will auto manufactures install a gizmo. So that when the car is NOT in park and the parking brake is NOT fully engaged ( for standard shift) all cell phone operations are blocked.
no recieving no sending

First time they do that, the family of some kidnap victim in a trunk, who can't call for help will sue the vehicle manufacturer . . . what needs to be done is make the punishment for texting while driving so severe that the idiots who ignore the law become afraid to do so. Perhaps confiscation of the vehicle and jail time would send the message

don't know whether confiscation of the vehicle is needed but a hefty hit to the pocketbook, say $2-4000.00 FIRST offence might get the point home. :yikes:

Worked for tobacco!!

How about if we just break all of the offender's fingers? :shocked:
A couple of weeks of inactivity, is just what they need! :thumbup:

most states ................ law enforcement can't stop you for using a cell phone or texting. that needs to be corrected.

In NC it's against the law to text or read a text while driving and that includes computers.

It is also the law in Alaska. But a quick look will show you that 8 of 10 people have a phone stuck up their ear or are in the process of texting.

That definitly is a consideration, but what if the kidnappers drive thur a dead zone, does the family then sue the phone company.
if the Feds got involved and required car makers to block cell usage when vehicle is in motion might be the way to go.( not that we need more fedcare).

an other way to stop this stupidity might be run software on road cameras that spit out plate numbers if the camera sees the top of a drivers head,(more nanny :cus: )

Interestingly enough, while driving through 5 countries in Europe, I do not recall seeing even one driver texting or on the phone. Of course, at 150k and over, ......... . but even on the surface roads and streets texting and mobiles didn't seem to be an issue.

As I see it..!!

It's common sense. Sadly the youth of today through social media is lacking any. I think all devices should go blank and work only on voice recognition (public) that way private texting would be heard and would probably stop....:banghead::banghead:

Is this true for law enforcement too? I see them driving and looking at their computers. I've also see cops driving and talking on a cell phone.

I drew the line when on the Spyder. NO Bluetooth for the phone. I listen to my stereo thru the speakers that came on the bike too. NO headset in my helmet.

EXCEPT FOR THE SPYDER

You mean – EXCEPT FOR THE SPYDER –that why our tree point stance is “safe enough to text”

Just put ON the Cruise Control;
Hold the phone in your left hand;
Loosen belt and other tight clothes;
Text with your Right Hand,
while bending your Head down to yourknees;
and, Kiss your A$$ Good-Bye :banghead:

Unfortunately, too many people still insist that THEY can safely text and drive, no matter what you say. There's a guy on another forum I'm on who claims that and says that it's no worse than eating or listening to the radio.

There's just no convincing some people until the kill someone with themselves.

When I'm on my Spyder and I see someone texting (which is pretty much every time I ride), if we come to a light I'll look over at them and either give them the "shame, shame" gesture or actually say something. Some sheepishly put the phone away, some blush and turn away, some give you the "F U" look and keep going.

It's like drinking and driving, if not worse.

It's against the law here in Florida, too, but those who want to text just keep on texting.
